Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Utility Solar Field Engineer with a background in Instrumentation & Controls to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems in our utility-scale solar projects. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems for utility-scale solar power plants.
- Conduct site assessments to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation and control systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, actuators, PLCs, SCADA systems, and communication networks.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and reliability of control systems.
- Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel on the proper use and maintenance of control systems.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to ensure accurate implementation of control systems.
- Monitor system performance and analyze data to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in instrumentation and control systems for solar power plants.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in instrumentation and control systems, preferably in the renewable energy or utility sector.
- In-depth knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS, HMI, and related instrumentation and control technologies.
- Strong understanding of electrical and control system design, installation, and maintenance.
- Experience with solar power plant systems and components is highly desirable.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience with energy storage systems and hybrid power plants.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to solar power plants and control systems.
