Responsible for all administrative duties related to Time & Labor for Tri-State, and its subsidiaries.

Note:

There is one position available and the position will be filled at one of four job grade levels: Time & Labor Associate I, job grade 3; Time & Labor Associate II, job grade 4, Time & Labor Associate III, job grade 5; or Senior Time & Labor Associate, job grade 6. This decision will be based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected, and Tri-State business needs at the time of hire.

Senior Time & Labor Associate

Hiring Salary Range: $71,000-$96,000

Time & Labor Associate III

Hiring Salary Range: $65,000-$89,000

Time & Labor Associate II

Hiring Salary Range: $58,000-$76,000

Time & Labor Associate I

Hiring Salary Range: $53,000-$69,000

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify, and update as needed, employee Time & Labor and Absence entries each biweekly pay cycle.
  • Audit entries transferred to payroll each pay cycle, and both research and correct issues found to ensure accurate reported hours are paid.
  • Assist employees and managers with questions, including troubleshooting system functionality and company policy related to reporting time worked and absences.
  • Coordinate with appropriate functional areas regarding time and absence entries, and delinquent time reporting.
  • Performs a second audit of all payroll transactions each pay cycle.
  • Participate in all aspects of the payroll process to gain knowledge of the profession and the compliance requirements related to it.
  • Serves as backup to the Payroll Associate, and with the assistance of the Payroll Manager, processes biweekly payroll and all related functions if needed.
  • Maintain electronic and paper payroll files.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures and attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of regulations, laws, standards, and best practices applicable to functional area.
  • Because Tri-State has an obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to its customers, the ability to work overtime at any time of the day or week is considered an essential function of the job.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform various general accounting functions as requested.
  • Perform special projects and respond to requests for information as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education and Training

  • Associates degree in Accounting or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience working with figures and calculations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Working knowledge of Tri-States time reporting and absence policies.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, computerized payroll and accounting systems, Microsoft Office products.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat DC
  • Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Other:

  • Willingness to learn all aspects of payroll.
  • Willingness to prepare and research special projects.

DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of accounting concepts preferred.
  • Familiarity with Oracle software desired.
  • Familiarity with Time & Labor compliance and company absence plans.
