AXA XL Excess and Surplus Lines cater to clients with unusual or high-risk coverage needs that are placed through Excess and Surplus lines wholesale brokers. We proactively position ourselves in the market as being a dedicated Excess and Surplus lines platform with the ability to provide tailored solutions to even the most complex risks. Across AXA XL, we strive to deliver a coordinated and collaborative approach where we complement other lines of business.
Our growing Excess and Surplus unit are looking to fill a Technical Specialist position in the Exton, Pennsylvania office to support our growing business.
As a Technical Specialist, you will play a critical role within the E&S Casualty team directly supporting the Underwriting, Middle Office and Shared Services staff. You will primarily perform underwriting support activities associated with new and renewal submission clearance along with other activities such as loss run requests, status updates in our systems, routine review of account information updating as needed, and quality control of draft policy documents prior to releasing the final to our brokers/clients.
You will utilize your strong communication and relationship building skills as you work closely with colleagues across regional offices, interact directly with various business partners that include Underwriters, Underwriting Assistants, Brokers, and others in our AXA XL global network.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
  • Submission Clearance Processing and Oversight Including:
    • Timely and accurate processing of new and renewal submissions
    • Management of the internal submission mailbox
    • Collaborate with Underwriting, Middle Office and Shared Services regarding inquiries
    • Handling of account status updates and routine review of account information
    • Processing of loss run requests and handling inquiries.
    • Assisting with maintenance of process and training manuals along with reference documentation
    • Quality Control of work performed by Shared Services staff.
    • New and refresher training for Middle Office and Shared Services staff.
    • Quality control of draft policies prior to releasing final version to our brokers/clients.
You will report to the Technical Specialist Team Lead.

Were looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
  • College degree or experience/education equivalent; preferably with some insurance experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with internal and external colleagues.
  • Robust analytical and organizational/desk management skills.
  • Client service experience and focus, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent competency in MS Office applications: MS Outlook, MS Word and Excel required.

The U.S. pay range for this position is USD 45,000 80,500. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individuals skills, experience, and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues pay.
