Team Lead – Renewable Development Engineer

About the Position

As a Team Lead in the Renewable Development group, you will be responsible for managing a team comprised of engineers and engineering design professionals. A Team Lead’s primary responsibility will be the accurate, timely, and quality completion of Utility-Scale Renewable Electrical Engineering scopes assigned to the team. The Team Lead will assist in the development of the departments Standard Best Practices (SBP’s) and enforcing/implementing them when pertinent. Team Leads will be a mentor and coach to employees on their team and help them grow individually as professionals.

Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000 / year

The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.

This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Leads client projects while mentoring and coaching engineers and engineering design professionals
  • Provides pre-sales technical support to customers and the NEI outside sales team
  • as a liaison between the solar design team and relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • preliminary solar design(s) (0-10%) and solar feasibility studies involving:
  • Meet the technical requirements outlined by the client
  • Creation of constraint file to complete a solar layout
  • Create solar layout
  • Provide high-level Bill of Materials for civil infrastructure, electrical material, and foundation quantities
  • Must be able to self-schedule preliminary design activities to meet deadlines set by external stakeholders
  • Energy modeling (PVsyst)
  • with Proposal team and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to establish proposal pricing
  • engineering & technical support to the other members of the Business Development & Project Services Team
  • and maintain outstanding company-client relationships
  • high ethical and professional standards
  • equipment vendor relationships
  • conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
  • safety training and adhere to all safety rules and guidelines

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred in certain instances
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • FE, PE is preferred
  • with energy modeling using PVsyst
  • with AutoCAD and PVCase
  • skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project
  • understanding electrical and civil engineering with specific emphasis on PV solar
  • to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with customers and internal personnel; exercises strong intrapersonal skills.
  • be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision maker that is comfortable in a fast-paced design environment
  • excellent problem-solving skills
  • understanding of the engineering or construction industries
  • effective written and oral communications skills
  • interpersonal and people skills
  • must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be required

Travel:

Typical: 15 – 25%

Physical Activities:

Must be able to lift 25lbs.
