sonnen seeks to hire a creative and diligent documentation engineer for the Large-Scale Energy Storage System projects who will report to the Technical Director. The role will be a highly collaborative, involving working with customer project team, sonnen technical, supply chain, procurement team and suppliers. The documentation engineer will be responsible for generating and maintaining project technical documentation. The ideal candidate for this position is an engineer able to understand the project technical requirements, operation and installation/commissioning of the ESS products and apply the knowledge to put together required documentation effectively.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and maintain project technical documentation, such as single-line drawings, schematics, Layouts, product specifications and modifications, User/Operator and Installation manuals, and other documents pertaining to large-scale ESS (Energy Storage System) projects
  • Review project plan and monitor status to prepare and ensure submitting documents required for each phase of project, by applying knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes
  • Review and verify project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with project requirements
  • Submit project documentation to management for review and approval, and transmits approved documents to customer
  • Work closely with various teams to make sure that technical information about the project is recorded clearly and accurately
  • Actively participate in project planning and technical meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in engineering technology, renewable energy, or related industry; experience in Large-scale Solar and Energy Storage System projects, is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of Energy storage systems, power generation and distribution
  • Familiarity with specification of electrical equipments such as: MV and LV switchgear, pad mount transformer, Transformer -GSUT, panel boards, breakers, protective relays, inverter, battery, battery chargers, disconnect switches, surge arrestors, dead front disconnect switch, medium voltage cable, low voltage cable, control cable
  • Ability to understand technical specifications of EMS (Energy Management System), PCS (Power Conversion System), Battery Storage System, ESS interconnection, Transformer, and relevant components as applied in the engineering specification and design of energy storage systems ranging from 1MW to 100MW
  • Experienced in the construction of engineering documentation such as Wiring charts, Bill of Material, Test plans, schematics, cable drawings, product manuals etc.
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation principles and best practices
  • Proficient in MS suite
  • Experience with SCHEMA ST4, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Solidworks
  • Familiarity with applicable NEC and building codes, preferred
  • Strong ability to multi-task supporting various project tasks
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of people internally and externally
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Motivated, responsible with positive attitude and able to deliver by deadline
  • Ability to travel as required by the project, up to 30%
