Job Description


Job Title: Sustainability Project Manager, Net Zero Carbon Reductions Duration: 12 months Location: Remote (West Coast Preferred) Summary The main function of a Project Manager is to provide successful definition, implementation and delivery of complex programs that require cross-functional collaboration and interdependencies across a group of projects and/or related activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Source and manage 3rd parties and associated engagements for sector-specific origination, due diligence and M&V scopes of work related to decarbonization projects within hard-to-abate sectors
  • Build and maintain practices and tooling to track coalitions and buyers alliances for carbon credits and other environmental attribute certificates (EACs)
  • Support the management of an internal pipeline of GHG emissions reductions projects (including support for project origination, due diligence and contracting)
  • Build and maintain program tools including but not limited to program budgets and project proformas
  • Support workload management and execution of activities through following-up on key considerations, decisions and action items with internal teams and external parties
  • Support reporting processes that communicate program and project progress across key metrics and performance indicators
  • Establish subject matter expertise in market-based measures for Scope 3

Skills

  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to self-manage complex delivery in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with interdisciplinary teams (e.g. Sustainability, Energy, Procurement teams).
  • A team player who can help scale initiatives that accelerate the reduction of Meta’s scope 3 GHG emissions.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to manage complex data
  • Expertise in GHG accounting, GHG target setting, voluntary carbon or other environmental markets, carbon reduction roadmap development
  • A self starter, with a proven ability to diplomatically resolve issues through understanding conflicting inputs, achieving alignment, and proposing go-forward solutions.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams (e.g. Sustainability, Procurement Teams, Business teams, Engineering) and managing relationships with complex stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability and willingness to learn and work on complex decarbonization projects.

Education/Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, industrial ecology, sustainable business management or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of related experience in fields related to environmental sustainability.

Must-Have Skills

  • 8+ years of professional experience of a program manager, knowledge of corporate decarbonization programs

Sustainability expertise – ideally focused on carbon reductions and net zero goals, understands GHG accounting, scope 3, decarbonization solutions

  • Corporate sustainability, environment within corporations, focusing on net zero sustainability. Decarbonization roadmaps.
  • Program Manager- lead workstreams within program, define scope, build tools and processes, drive execution, manage risks
  • Environmental carbon roadmaps or offsets, greenhouse gas accounting, Strong analytical capabilities and ability to manage complex data. Partnership – strong partnership and collaboration skills working in matrixed environment

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Project management implementation – developing tools to manage budget, schedule, key milestones and deliverables
  • Tools development – spreadsheet or web-based tools for visualizing quantitative data and comparisons against targets, forecasts and actuals and forecasted across a portfolio of projects
