Salary: $66,952 – $90,384 (as of 7/1/24)

Location: Town Hall

Duties: Working under the general direction of the Assistant Town Administrator for Operations, the position provides the leadership and administrative capacity to support town efforts to promote sustainable policies and practices, among town departments and among Hinghams commercial and residential property owners. The position drives energy efficiency, clean energy, and waste reduction projects across departments and at municipal and school department facilities. The position plays a supporting role in coordinating Town efforts to promote resiliency, managing the impacts of climate change, and achieving the towns goal of net-zero carbon emissions.

Requirements: A candidate for this position should have a Bachelors Degree in environmental science, environmental policy, engineering, business, or related degree and four (4) to six (6) years of full-time professional experience in a similar or related role. Municipal experience preferred. The Town may consider equivalent education and experience in determining whether a candidate has met the requisite qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A candidate for this position should have knowledge, skills and abilities in the following:

Knowledge of: Laws, rules, and regulations regarding energy procurement practices; Trends in sustainability technology and best practices particularly clean energy, energy efficiency, and waste reduction; State, federal, and private funding sources supporting clean energy, energy efficiency, and waste reduction.

Skills in: Project management; Negotiation; Building consensus among groups with varied missions and priorities; Building strong working relationships with state agencies & grant funding organizations; Communicating clearly orally and in writing – with varied audiences town departments, business community, residents, and funders across various platforms; Leveraging networks to identify emerging opportunities and best practices.

Ability to: Comprehend and apply technical knowledge as it relates to energy use carbon reduction, and climate resilience; Identify and apply for grant funding opportunities; Adapt to new and ambiguous situations; Work proficiently with MS-Office software tools Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher; Utilize GIS as well as Mass Energy Insight, CDP, and/or similar tools to track trends in energy use and carbon generation.
