Job Summary

The Supply Chain Manager for our client will oversee and optimize their supply chain operations. This role is critical to ensuring the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and overall performance of the supply chain processes. The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for managing the end-to-end supply chain, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and supplier relationships, to support the company’s production and distribution needs.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with other departments, such as Manufacturing, Engineering, Service, and Finance, to create effective business plans, making strong teamwork skills essential. The Supply Chain Manager will also optimize lead times and on-time delivery to meet market and sales demands while balancing material requirements, labor availability, and the scheduling of tooling and equipment.

Responsible for 5 employees located onsite in Austin, TX.

Duties And Responsibilities

Supply Chain Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with the company’s business objectives, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust supply chain processes to respond to changes in market conditions, customer demands, and technological advancements.

Procurement and Supplier Management:

  • Oversee sourcing and procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and components.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier performance to meet quality and delivery standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including supply disruptions, price volatility, and supplier quality issues.

Inventory and Logistics Management:

  • Optimize inventory levels to balance supply and demand, reduce excess stock, and prevent shortages.
  • Manage logistics and distribution operations to ensure on-time delivery of products to customers.
  • Coordinate with the production team to streamline operations and improve lead times.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Service, and Finance departments to develop and execute integrated business plans.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure alignment of supply chain activities with manufacturing schedules and capacity constraints.

Quality Management System (QMS) Involvement:

  • Actively participate in the internal QMS committee, contributing to the development and improvement of quality management processes.
  • Ensure supply chain processes comply with the company’s QMS requirements, including ISO 9001 standards.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance quality control measures within the supply chain, driving continuous improvement in product quality and supplier performance.

Process Improvement and Project Management:

  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving supply chain efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing product quality.
  • Utilize lean principles and other process improvement methodologies to streamline supply chain operations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of supply chain activities and drive continuous improvement.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies throughout the supply chain.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilize data analytics to forecast demand, optimize inventory levels, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Prepare and present reports on supply chain performance, including metrics on inventory, lead times, costs, and supplier performance.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the supply chain team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Mentor and develop team members, providing training and support to enhance their skills and performance.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Education Requirements

  • BA in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a similar field
  • Experience with ERP systems, with Syteline preferred

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a supply chain manager or in a similar role
  • Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • Excellent knowledge of supply chain processes
  • Working experience with ERP software (Syteline or equivalent ERP system)

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Ability to obtain a passport

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to coordinate and plan strategically
  • Ability to lead buyers/planners in a dynamic environment to meet company goals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong purchasing, negotiating, and supplier selection skills

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Uses telephone and email to communicate with external vendors, co-workers, management, etc., approximately 6+ hours per day.
  • Sits approximately 6+ hours per day.
