THE HIGH LEVEL
Iron Bow Technologies is seeking an experienced Sr Systems Administrator to support an existing, long time Federal Government customer, the U. S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
You will join our team of Engineers already providing Systems Administrator/Virtualization Storage and Network support for the Museum. You will be one of the team members responsible for ensuring availability of client/server applications, configure new implementations, and support the develop of processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. This is an onsite position at the customer site in Washington, DC.

The Sr. System Administrator will join a highly motivated team that supports all aspects of the organizations internal IT services. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.
- Our team uses various dashboards to track assignments and progress with assigned work you will be keeping sights on the dashboards to monitor and respond to incoming work assignments and help with balancing assignments with members of the team.
- Monitor, manage, backup, restore and recover physical (Dell) servers running Windows and Linux, virtual Windows and Linux servers, and VMWare hosts managed by VCenter, and Database Servers running MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle.
- Monitor, maintain, and manage Cloud and Web services, working with providers to maintain operational access, coordinate upgrades, and communicate scheduled and unplanned outages.
- Monitor and manage SMTP Gateways, Web Load Balancers, and Active Directory Domain Controllers, and monitor, manage, backup, restore and recover Radius Servers, and Certificate Servers.
- Provide active participation in the client’s CCB meeting ensure change tickets are updated to reflect status, including obstacles, and also work with the IT Services Manager to ensure client and QASP reporting capture successes and challenges.
- Assess and resolve Help Desk incident/case tickets escalated to Tier 3 for server and/or server resource issues, including configuration and deployment of new client hardware and software applications; prioritize and respond to help desk tickets as appropriate while striving to comply with SLA goals.
- Perform file system configuration and management – define and perform server backups and recovery per documented and maintained procedures.
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly checks are performed and completed following documented procedures.
- Recommend modifications to server environments to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance implement modifications per approved change requests.
- Conduct hardware, software, and protocols research in support of procurement efforts conduct capacity planning as needed.

- You bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical analytical position responsible for administering server environments that are operational 24x7x365.
- Definitely will need to bring the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the project team, and with the Leadership Team.
- You have experience working case and change tickets in an ITSM, such as ServiceNow.
- You understand VPC environments (Amazon Linux and MS Windows) Amazon Machine Instances running in EC2 AWS RDS for MySQL and MS-SQL Server Simple Storage Services (S3), Amazon Glacier Storage for long-term archival storage, Identity Authentication Management including Windows AD and ADFS, Google G Suite, VMware tools, Windows OS, Redhat, SQL 2016, VXRails, NetApp CloudSync.
- You have knowledge with configuring VPC and EC2 instances in AWS, and with account administration in Google and Office 365.
- You have in-depth experience with multiple OSs, including MS, Apple and Linux, and specific knowledge of MS Windows 2008 Server, as well as MS Office.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of server hardware, including Dell, HP, VMWare ESXi and vCenter.
- You’re experienced with virtual storage devices, such as Cohesity and NetBackup, with storage and backup technologies (SAN & NAS), and SolarWinds.
- Exceptional abilities at load balancing, clustering, and caching, and experienced with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
- We’d like for you to have used/have knowledge of JAMF for remote lifecycle management (Groups, Policies, Configuration, Patches) of Apple devices.
- Will also be helpful if you’re familiar with Isilon/Dell PowerScale, QSync, OuSArchiv, LibData, LibNova, LibSafe.
- You bring knowledge of network components and topologies, and helpful that you’re able to create/update processes, complex diagrams using Lucidchart or comparable.
- You bring general knowledge in a few areas, such as VoIP and Video over IP, Tenable Security Center, and/or Citrix VDI.
- We’d like it if you have knowledge of JAMF Pro features such as Zero Touch Deployments, App Management, Extensive Inventory, Security Controls, and Self-Service App Catalog.
- Very helpful if you bring experience with client/server AV software applications.
- Prefer that you have a BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant disciplin
- You have certifications, such as MCSE, MCSA, or MTA, along with a commitment and drive to gain additional certifications.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires candidates based in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area so that they are accessible to multiple DC-area locations, and one location in Bowie, MD. Travel requirements outside the DC metro area limited, possible 10% occasional travel to customer regional sites.
