Description
The Senior Manager, Environmental Compliance will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing company compliance policies and procedures related to renewable fuels sales and operations. This role will also provide guidance on regulatory and voluntary-related matters, manage relevant registrations, and prepare and submit reports for renewable fuels and associated credits, as well as for sustainability solutions and services.
Responsibilities
Environmental Regulatory Credits
- Create internal guidelines and process documents to educate and ensure all Mansfield entities adhere to renewable fuel regulatory requirements.
- Perform transactional transfers and required reporting for all applicable regulatory programs:
- Federal renewable fuels standard (e.g., EPA RFS)
- State-level clean fuels (e.g., CA-LCFS, OR-CFP, WA-CFS)
- City-level renewable fuel standards (e.g., City of Portland RFS)
- Collaborate with Supply and others to inform credit values for accurate invoicing
- Attend all public information sessions and stay abreast of evolving requirements
Environmental Voluntary Credits
- Oversee the monitoring, reporting, and verification of Mansfields Renewable Diesel carbon reduction (book-and-claim) program
- Manage GHG attribute inventory integrity
- Track Proof of Sustainability documentation against physical RD deliveries
- Work with third-party to complete regular auditing and assurance
- Provide program oversight for Mansfields third-party voluntary carbon offset solutions, ensuring documentation traceability and credibility
Customer Scope Emissions
- Develop process and methodology to calculate customer scope 3 emissions
- Inform Microsoft Sustainability Manager enhancements/co-create with Microsoft team
- Leverage Samsara and other telematics data as needed
- Collaborate with Carrier Relations to expand carrier scorecard to include sustainability metrics
- Report Scope 1 & Scope 3 on monthly/quarterly/annual cycles as required by customer
Corporate Sustainability Reporting
- Track and audit emissions data for Mansfield sustainability reporting (MEC wide)
- Coordinate with multiple internal stakeholders to acquire necessary data in a consistent manner
- Assist in the drafting of Mansfields annual corporate sustainability report
- Perform federal and state-level climate-disclosure reporting as required (e.g., California SB 253 & SB 261)
Ad-hoc special projects upon request
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Sustainability, Marketing, Environmental Science, or other relevant field of study preferred
Knowledge & Experience
- Eight (8+) years of energy experience across fossil and renewable fuels.
- Excellent understanding of sustainability incentive and regulatory structures. Ability to analyze and take advantage of new and existing mechanisms to drive customer acquisition and revenue growth.
- Expertise in the application of US & Canadian environmental regulations and broad understanding of international regulatory requirements.
- Expertise and experience on the policies, methods and/or approaches for measuring and mitigating GHG emissions.
- Broad knowledge of refining process and renewable feedstock processing a plus
- Understands the carbon emissions value chain from carbon emissions measurement to management and reporting
- Strong project management skills, including experience with appropriate software tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver meaningful business results with minimal supervision
- Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with good aptitude for technology
- Subject matter expertise preferred: Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), and Oregon Clean Fuels Program (CFP), Renewable Natural Gas/Electric Vehicles, Renewable Diesel, and Cellulosic Ethanol.
