Job Description

Summary: The Project Manager will be part of the Operations team and will manage large scale commercial solar projects from inception through installation and commissioning of Solar PV System.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Works to nurture the created culture of success, and the execution of a purpose-driven and values based organizational culture that will support the attraction, retainage and motivation of high performing operational employees, by providing the team with leading, managing, and accountability against the company projects.
  • Executes the clear vision set forth and is accountable for the results of your work in adherence to policy and processes.
  • Prepares for and executes a successful installation of large commercial solar photovoltaic systems from contract inception, and in some instances prior to contract inception as the team evaluates the project viability by managing all aspects of the project from the planning and coordinating of the project itself to commissioning to ensure that it is built to the quality specifications of the company, industry, and customer.
  • Coordinates with operational units to ensure plan sets, permits, materials, installation crew, electricians, utilities, permitting agencies, subcontractors, and customers are ready for each install.
  • Creates the schedule for installation of solar system, coordinates with departmental team to develop enterprise-level schedules to plan resources across multiple commercial projects. Responsible for creating the bill of materials for each project and coordinating with the materials and warehouse team to ensure the materials are received and delivered to the job site in time for the install. Coordinates with the customer and the internal schedule to meet the demands of the installation. Works with the design engineers to ensure that plan sets are accurate and delivered in the timeframe that allows permitting and material ordering. Completes the solicitation, negotiating, scheduling and planning for all subcontractors and vendors prior to the project starting and through final completion, if not already completed by Procurement Team. Responsible to maintain the overall project buyout log, ensure delegated sub/vendor procurement is completed by others, and self-perform sub/vendor procurement for items that are not delegated. Ensures that all inspections are complete, and the customer’s system is commissioned and working as deemed in the customer contract
  • Collaborates with team to create, enhance, and implement safety procedures and best practices.
  • Delivers white glove treatment to all customers and ensures that all members of the operational team are doing the same thing, to promote the highest quality image of Kokosing Solar with customers, employees, vendors, and community.
  • Reports against Key Performance Indicators or metrics that are set forth for measurement. Leads, manages, and accountable to the KPI’s and metrics.
  • Accountable for a profitable operation that results in meeting the targeted budgets of each project. This includes assessing each project you are assigned to on an ongoing basis and making the necessary adjustments needed.
  • Provides an accurate schedule and capacity forecasting to plan financial reporting and forecasting in accordance with the admin team.
  • Implements appropriate change orders for changes that were not in the original contract and ensures that the client or company are accountable for each change order.
  • Maintains Viewpoint project financial account. Initiates, submits, and tracks progress billings with the Client.

Education/Experience

  • Possess a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management
  • 5+ year’s experience in construction, engineering-related industry, or solar managing contractors
  • Must be able to understand and interpret safety laws, company policies/standards, and collective bargaining agreements
  • Successful track record of project management in large scale commercial work
  • Be able to work well in a flexible, “roll up your sleeves” and dynamic work environment
  • Proven track record of managing and building projects within their forecasted budgets
  • Computer Skills: Must be highly proficient with the Microsoft Suite, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and accounting software. Experience using Project Management software, such as Microsoft Project Management, Work Zone, Jira, or any other Project Management software tool that includes the usage of Gantt charts preferred.
  • Customer Service: Experience handling potential customers, and current customer base, along with the ability to provide internal customer service to teams. Always thinking with a customer focused mindset, that promotes the culture and clean energy mission of Kokosing Solar.
  • Experience working with formal construction bids, subcontractor bids, and the request for proposal process.
  • Professional experience in a private sector and government contracting, not required, but ideal
  • Experience with AutoCad helpful, but not required
  • Experience reading blueprints required
  • The ability to provide construction cost and time estimating to large commercial, small commercial, and residential projects
