Position Summary

The Solar Field Installer III – Drill Operator will perform manual field labor and equipment operation necessary to install footings, racking, solar panels, and other project objectives and goals in a safe and productive manner.

Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties)

  • Daily tasks may include, but are not limited to, counting inventory, cleaning project site, prepping project site, loading, and unloading materials and equipment, staging materials and equipment on project site, performing project errands, cleaning equipment, operating light machinery (forklifts, skid steers) when qualified.
  • Operation of equipment which may include company vehicles (trucks), front end loaders, skid steer, KR-55, SmartMast, rock drill, air compressor and/or other machinery.
  • Attend all pre-shift safety and production meetings according to schedule, participate in daily team stretching exercise, and support end of day site clean-up.
  • Move, carry, pour, set, or shovel, physically or mechanically, aggregate, screws, and other materials used.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections, perform preventative maintenance, track and schedule required periodic repairs or service, ensure safe storage, and operate all vehicles and equipment within safe limits as set by manufacturers recommendation or local law to minimize the risk of injury or property damage.
  • Complete site survey to measure and identify screw sites and to ensure installation of ground screws or rock drilling are being performed within the stated tolerances of the site construction plans or subcontractor agreement with client.
  • Complete all required or directed training, certification, licensing, and other learning and development as assigned.
  • Abide by all Federal, State, and local laws; uphold and maintain accountability to all Company policy.
  • Obtain and maintain certifications or licenses as required to operate equipment.
  • Demonstrate positive team behavior that contributes to efficiency, productivity, safety, and quality.
  • May operate side-by-side ATVs or another buggy-type vehicle off road.
  • Drive up to a one-ton sized truck while towing a trailer loaded with equipment; must maintain a valid drivers license

Education / Experience (an equivalent combination of education and/or experience)

  • 1+ Years of Experience in Solar construction, or Civil construction
  • 1+ Years of Experience Heavy equipment operation

Technical Skills

Familiarity of tablet or iPhone technology, Google Earth, blueprint reading

Licenses / Certifications

  • OSHA 30
  • Driver’s License (valid and unexpired)

As a condition of continued employment, this position requires the incumbent to hold at time of hire and maintain throughout employment a current and valid OSHA 30 and a valid and unexpired Drivers License from the employees state of residence. Incumbents failing to maintain these requirements may be subject to unpaid suspension until the requirements are met, or separation.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work outdoors in uncovered areas exposed to varying elements, allergens, weather conditions, temperatures, and wildlife.
  • Able to stoop, kneel, bend, or twisting at the waist, and walk on uneven, graded, or slippery ground condition.
  • Able to stand to for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. unassisted.
  • Able to be routinely exposed to loud noises (100+ dB).
  • Able to work in sustained extreme temperatures (hot and cold).
  • Able to communicate effectively with coworkers and managers.
