THE JOB

OnSite Energy is looking for enthusiastic, positive, self-motivated individuals to join our solar installation crew. We have a regular flow of commercial and residential solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Missoula, Bozeman, and across Montana. This role will be based out of the Missoula branch long-term, but will spend a large portion of their training and first 6 months working on jobs around Bozeman with the Bozeman crews. Ideal applicants are open to travel and working on-the-road, have construction and/or electrical skills and must be comfortable working on roofs and outdoors in variable weather conditions. Positions are full-time, and require frequent overnight travel for out-of-town projects during the first 6 months of training. POSITION OVERVIEW

A Solar Installation Technician is responsible for the successful and timely installation of assigned projects under the direction of the Crew Leader. They work closely with the Crew Leaders and Project Managers to execute on specific tasks within each installation project meeting OnSite Energys exacting quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan Installation:

  • Although most installation planning tasks fall on the Crew Leader, there will be times when the Installer will have autonomy in the decision making of specific job site tasks.
  • Use per-job materials checklist to pack the vehicle before leaving for the job. Make sure vehicles are clean, organized, fueled up, and stocked with necessary materials.

Installation:

  • Track all labor hours per job. Classify for prep work, travel, installation, and electrical work.
  • Upon arrival at job-site, listen and help plan the approach to the days work based on instruction from Crew Leaders and Project Managers.
  • Ensure that all safety and quality standards are met.
  • Basic understanding of construction and electrical toolsets and techniques is required. On the job training for both is available, depending on job candidate. Tools are provided by OnSite.
  • Work environment will be in wide range of temperatures and employee is required to be dressed and prepared for current conditions. Some uniform stipends are available to employees for clothing purchase.
  • Work location is often well off the ground. Comfort in accessing work location via ladder and scaffold is a must, as is use of fall protection and other job-specific PPE.
  • Assist in completion of the installation checklist, string map, and photography of job site prior to array completion.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Time Frame:

  • 5x8hr work weeks between Jan. 1st and Apr. 30th.
  • 4x10hr work weeks and possible overtime from May 1st through Dec. 31st.
  • On-call basis and as-needed work available year-round with occasional 40+ hour per week overtime.

Location:

  • The majority of work is in Bozeman and Gallatin Valley.
  • Travel throughout the state with overnight stays away from the Valley may take place. In these cases, hardship pay and per diem pay are provided.

Benefits:

  • Pay is dependent upon experience, ranging from $25.00 to $33.00 per hour.
  • Paid holidays and paid sick time for all employees, with paid time off increasing with seniority.
  • Group health insurance is 100% paid by employer after probationary period.
  • Matched retirement contribution available after one year of employment.
