Job Summary:
The Design Manager will be responsible for leading the design team in developing comprehensive and efficient solar energy system designs for rooftop and ground-mounted installations. This role requires strong technical expertise in solar energy systems design, as well as leadership skills to manage a team of designers and drive project success.
Key Responsibilities:
Solar Energy System Design:
Lead the design team in developing detailed solar energy system designs, including layout, sizing, and configuration of photovoltaic (PV) modules, inverters, racking systems, and balance of system components.
Ensure that solar energy system designs meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
Technical Expertise:
Provide technical expertise and guidance to the design team, including reviewing designs, resolving technical issues, and optimizing system performance.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in solar energy system design.
Project Management:
Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely completion of designs and delivery of high-quality work.
Coordinate with sales, engineering, and construction teams to support project development and execution.
Quality Assurance:
Implement quality assurance processes and standards to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of solar energy system designs.
Conduct design reviews and quality checks to identify and address any design errors or discrepancies.
Team Leadership and Development:
Recruit, train, and mentor a team of design professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, renewable energy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
5 years of experience in solar energy system design, with a proven track record of success in leading design teams and delivering high-quality designs.
Strong technical expertise in solar energy systems design, including PV modules, inverters, racking systems, and balance of system components.
Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope) and familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and drive collaboration across departments.
