Responsibilities OPPD is seeking an electrical engineer to assist with the development and operation of the District¿s inverter-based generation resources (IBR).Initial responsibilities will include IBR project engineering oversight encompassing design, procurement, construction, and startup activities as we develop our renewable and battery storage facilities.This role will focus on utilizing the IBR controls to mitigate the impact of IBRs on the grid.Technical skills experience with solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems equipment, inverters, electrical substations, SCADA, and IBR regulatory compliance requirements are desired.This engineer is assigned accountability for timely IBR equipment technical analysis review, troubleshooting and improvement of operational performance.Once the District has operating IBR facilities this role will become more of a typical Power Generation Engineer.This role will also assist with electrical engineering support responsibilities at other existing District generation facilities as well as support other new thermal generation projects.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Four (4) year Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (ABET-accredited degree) OR Professional Engineer (PE) certificate
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certificate or means for reciprocity within six months.
  • Five (5) years of equivalent engineering work experience. Special projects and committees including technical skills may be considered for experience durations. Master’s degree may be considered for up to two years of experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the utility industry and power generation
  • Knowledgeable in the various regulations and codes, which apply to the specific engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to adapt the communication for a varying audiences
  • A valid driver’s license

Desired:

  • Familiarity and experience with Ventyx (Asset Suite), Cognos, AutoDesk (CAD, Inventor, Vault), Bentley MicroStation, PeopleSoft
  • Degree in engineering discipline related to power generation
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Business.
  • Demonstrated capabilities of researching engineering and operational issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and presenting recommendations.
  • Advanced MS Office Professional Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Electric utility power plant operation and maintenance exposure.
  • Understanding of codes and regulations applicable to power generation facilities
  • Thorough knowledge of OPPD’s T&D, Substation and Generation system.

Closing Statement

Salary Grade: S6

Minimum: $104,645

Midpoint: $130,806
