Description Monitoring, Control and Compliance, Inc. (MCC) is a privately owned small business providing services to the solid waste industry. Founded by a former landfill gas technician in 2005 with two employees; and has since grown to approximately 65 employees utilizing a controlled growth strategy.

Our focus is the operation and maintenance of landfill gas systems that are installed to reduce the emissions of Methane impacting our environment and provide for a “Green” energy source for our client’s end-users.

Core Functions

  • Reports directly to Project Manager and Regional Manager.
  • Be the primary communications with site management in order to set priorities for the team and project success. Acting as a Liaison between site management and project managers/supervisors Interface with site management, plant operators and project managers/supervisors.
  • Supervise and manage multiple landfill gas collections systems and technicians.
  • Perform all functions related to operations of landfill gas collection and control system including monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Train other technicians with functions and operations of landfill gas collection and control systems.
  • Make sure projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Identify issues that require resolution; develop solution and provide that solution to project team.
  • Understanding of state and federal regulations related to landfill gas collection systems.
  • Track Compliance and identify compliance exceedances then coordinate follow up monitoring requirements within regulatory guidelines.
  • As needed, perform routine on-site monitoring of system operations for compliance deadline and contractual requirements, as well as troubleshooting and diagnostics of system malfunctions.
  • Document daily activities, coordinates, communicates and verifies corrective actions to maintain continuous compliance.
  • Follows all company and project safety policies and procedures. Uses required personal protective equipment at all times and performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner (safety boots, safety vest, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, chemical protection and 4-gas monitoring equipment).
  • Maintains cleanliness and upkeep of the company truck, all-terrain vehicle and all work areas.
  • Due to the nature of the collection systems, response to after-hours call outs is possible.

Requirements

General Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5 years Landfill Gas experience
  • Management or supervisory experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient use of Windows and Windows Office software to include Excel, Outlook and Adobe.
  • Complete understanding of state and regulations governing landfill gas collection systems.
  • Possess technical expertise in order to maintain a high level of operation of landfill gas and control system, including high level problem solving with minimal management input
  • Maintains daily logs and obtains readings in accordance with prescribed standards.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, including the proficient and safe use of hand tools.
  • Possess technical expertise to provide instruction and guidance to less experienced individuals.
  • Patience to deal with unknown circumstances and resolution of any issues associated with the operation of a landfill gas collection and control system.
  • Detailed follow up with client and supervisory personnel on critical items and issues associated with operation of a landfill gas collection and control system.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Positive Attitude – To help mentor others and provide guidance as necessary.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment, as well as random, drug screens, background check and motor vehicle records check.

Preferred Qualifications Include

  • Previous landfill gas system operation experience or education is a plus for a field technician candidate.
  • Prefer knowledge/environmental sampling techniques.
  • Current OSHA 40 Hr. HAZWOPER.
  • Landfill collection system construction and installation experience.
  • Pipe fusion certificate.
  • Knowledge of basic math, gas chemistry, piping and instrumentation drawings.
  • Electrical, Chemical and Mechanical experience.
  • Google Mapping
  • Adobe Pro

Physical Requirements

  • Able to think on your feet while pushing your physical limits.
  • 100% outside work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk long distances on all terrain
  • Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in rugged terrain.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • The use of personal protective equipment (safety boots, safety glasses, safety vest and personal gas monitoring equipment) is required for daily activities.
  • Able to travel overnight up to 30%
