Overview:

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Project Manager to join their growing solar and energy storage development firm. This role is pivotal to their expanding portfolio, encompassing all stages of project development, including site evaluation, design, interconnection, permitting, and pre-construction activities. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Development, the successful candidate will lead and manage key responsibilities that drive the firm’s mission forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee project development tasks for solar PV and battery storage projects, particularly in the Northeastern US and other key markets, ensuring alignment with schedules and budgets.
  • Feasibility Assessments: Conduct fatal flaw and feasibility assessments for new project opportunities, identifying potential risks and solutions.
  • Interconnection Management: Collaborate with utilities and engineers to manage the interconnection process, ensuring projects are technically and commercially viable.
  • Permitting and Approvals: Interface with local and state authorities to secure necessary permits and documentation, navigating regulatory requirements efficiently.
  • Business Development Support: Assist the business development team with bid submissions and proposals, contributing to RFPs and exploring unsolicited opportunities.
  • Progress Reporting: Prepare and present progress reports as projects move through various stages of development and construction.
  • Contractor Management: Manage contractors, including those for survey, design, and environmental tasks, ensuring the preparation of permit applications and supporting documentation.
  • RFP Management: Oversee the tendering of RFPs for professional services, equipment procurement, and installation contractors, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • EPC Support: Provide support to EPC activities, including monitoring inspections, preparing progress reports, and addressing client/investor requests.
  • Asset Management: Assist in managing both owned assets and those under the company’s asset management portfolio.
  • Contract Development: Contribute to the development and negotiation of legal contracts, such as lease agreements, power purchase agreements, and service agreements.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, adapting to the needs of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in renewable energy project development/management, with a preference for candidates with battery storage experience.
  • Educational Background: Strong foundation in Finance, Business, Engineering, Math, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with comfort presenting in public settings and a well-organized approach to workflow.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, Primavera, Smartsheets, or similar project management software.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify and assess risk factors as opportunities arise, with a keen analytical mindset.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel regionally to project sites, meeting with landowners, customers, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Presentation Skills: Proven ability to develop and deliver high-impact presentations.
  • Passion for Renewable Energy: A strong desire to work on renewable energy development projects.
  • Self-Motivation: Ability to prioritize tasks, set deadlines, and work independently, often with limited direct oversight.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated success in building relationships and partnerships across organizational lines, with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Adaptability: A team player willing to take on responsibilities across the organization as needed.
