The Position:

As part of the Project Management-Energy Storage System group, this role plays a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of energy storage projects.

Senior Project Manager is responsible for directly managing the execution of Sungrow’s Energy Storage Systems (ESS) projects within the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) and Utility portfolio. Senior Project Manager will ensure end-to-end project ownership and customer point of contact responsibilities from project launch to successful commissioning while working with the Service group to ensure safety, delivery, cost and schedule KPI targets are met.

Sungrow’s solutions for these types of projects entail significant renewable electrical and control equipment and familiarity with the Sungrow service platforms. Senior Project Manager will use his/her knowledge of industrial and utility power distribution equipment, ESS design and construction processes to deliver projects with a high degree of professionalism and safety.

Senior. Project Manager will also interface with ESS sales & service teams. Individual must be capable of self-managing and directing a team on awarded projects for Sungrow Scope of Work (SOW), including working knowledge of electrical ESS & installation, and manage 3rd party. Equipment includes transformers, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), Enclosures, Energy Management Systems (EMS) and SCADA.

This candidate shall work closely with HQ product and manufacturing group to have a general view of project execution. The candidate will work closely with Sungrow Service team, PMO team and System Solution team in HQ to manage project execution risk at the contract negotiation stage. The candidate will need to travel on a regular basis to customer sites to provide support for product delivery and on-site commissioning activities. This position will require up to 25 % travel time. This position will be part of the ESS Business group and report to the Director of Project Management, Energy Storage.

Position Summary

• Execute projects flawlessly through proactive planning, front-end and active risk reviews, frequent and timely project assessment and reporting, and effective risk management

• Adhere to project management processes and quality improvement programs targeted at enhancing operational and quality metrics

• Provide PM input to the commercial contracts between Sungrow and its customers, suppliers, and partners and have an intimate understanding of their terms and risks.

• Prepare, submit, and manage change orders between customers, partners, and suppliers and manage and communicate the scope of work & responsibilities between all project stakeholders, including customers, internal teams, sales, HQ, engineering

• Establish, maintain, and regularly update project status: schedule, delivery, milestone performance, forecast, risks, and mitigation effects on assigned projects

• Prepare, distribute, and follow through with the overall risk management plan and the project safety plan

• Provide PM leadership to site work from initial mobilization to commissioning through service team and progress reporting

• Lead the identification and resolution of technical and commercial issues throughout the project lifecycle using operational PMP principles.

• Able to perform PM data analysis and use the data to assist with decision making to meet operation and execution target

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum Four (4) years’ experience in renewable / power distribution industry

• Minimum Four (4) years’ in project management role from any of the following industries, such as global OEM, energy storage, battery manufacturer or system integrator.

• Demonstrated knowledge in electrical systems installation, construction, labor estimation and different site layout etc.

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, etc

• Thorough understanding of local jurisdiction requirement, NFPA, FERC, NEC/UL code, Electrical Safety Regulation, IBC etc.

• Strong data analytic background is a plus

Education or Desired License and Certificates:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from accredited university or college

• PE and/or CM certification is a plus

• PMP preferred

• Medium Voltage (MV) Electrical plant design experience

• Skid based system integration design -build experience preferred

• PV Energy Storage system-related experiences are desired

• Previous direct power conversion or battery system experience is a plus

• Past experiences in supply chain and mass production is a strong plus.

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera Scheduling software
