As a Project Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering top-tier microgrid solutions for customers, focusing primarily on the Northeast USA market. You will oversee the technical development, coordinate microgrid projects, co-lead proposal development, and support the full project lifecycle from opportunity identification to execution. This role involves collaborating across multiple lines of business and third-party partnerships while leveraging expertise in the energy industry, including electrification, performance contracting, and Energy as a Service.
Key Responsibilities:
– Technical Leadership: Support Microgrid Commercial Sales Teams with solution development, technical and economic option analysis, and proposal development. Provide technical mentorship and facilitate coordination among various internal teams.
– Proposal Development: Develop conceptual microgrid designs, operational intents, and support tendering and proposals. Ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) aligns with project specifications and act as a technical lead in proposal efforts.
– Project Management: Organize project analysis meetings, issue RFIs, and document project risks and contingencies. Provide customer-facing support, including energy modeling and tariff analysis.
– Industry Knowledge and Thought Leadership: Stay current on industry trends and technologies, act as a thought leader at industry events, and support new offers and services related to microgrids and the prosumer landscape.
– Collaboration and Communication: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery and enhance customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
– 5+ years of experience in microgrid design and implementation.
– Strong understanding of microgrid technologies including PV systems, generators, fuel cells, and battery energy storage.
– Proven experience in proposal development and project management.
– Excellent communication, collaboration, and financial modeling skills.
– Proficiency in energy modeling software (Energy ToolBase, HelioScope, HOMER, etc.) is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
– Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, utility tariffs, and incentive programs.
– Ability to read electrical single line diagrams and manage the permitting and interconnect processes.
– Experience with EV charging infrastructure and grid services markets is a plus.
