Location:

We are open to this role being positioned at either of our offices in Portland OR, or Austin TX. This role could also be based remotely within the vicinity of these locations.

The Role

This role will hold overall accountability for the delivery of Akaysha US projects; you’ll ensure planning conditions are appropriate, early works and design are underway, and financial forecasts are in place. The position works alongside our Development Pillar enabling our projects to be set up for success. As our projects move through the delivery cycle, reaching points such as Notice to Proceed – the Senior Manager, Delivery is accountable for the safest, on time and on budget delivery of all aspects of the project – end to end. In addition, the position offers the unique opportunity to be involved in late stage development and early works prior to Notice to Proceed.

The position requires someone who understands and is experienced in the project management of complex project environments, is adept in engineering, construction and technical expertise, and possess’ a proven track record in the negotiation and management of contracts with key suppliers and contractors. Experience managing time, cost and risk of project delivery is key.

Akaysha is a rapid growing BESS (and renewable) Development and Operation BESS company with a proven record. This position is an opportunity to join our company during a period of growth as a Senior member of the US team, which will offer a high level of autonomy whilst leveraging the expertise and global supply chain of Akaysha and BlackRock.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Lead by example in the application of the highest WHSE culture, both personally and in all Akaysha projects and activities
  • Assist in recruitment and selection of project staff and project level management of a multi-discipline project team including ongoing support and training
  • Assist in negotiating key EPC contracts and provide input to OEM supplier and other key contracts
  • Responsible for day to day managing project agreements – SFA, PPA, EPC, Suppliers, Grid Connection, Land Owner, and other agreements
  • Responsibility for the project cost & schedule
  • Coordination of project workstreams involving other pillars teams within the business required for safe and successful project delivery.
  • Develop project management and execution plans for the development phase of Projects including comprehensive schedules, risk registers and supporting key documentation
  • Prepare and present project reports on project safety, progress, const and other key metrics to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure all planning permits and conditions of approval are managed and satisfied
  • Play a key role in external stakeholder management and working with the local community
  • Actively participate in Scope of Works and Contractor Risk Assessment reviews to help identify errors and develop corrective measures
  • Handover of the project to the asset management & operations team at the nominated completion milestone and ensure lessons learnt are shared with the Delivery team and broader business
  • Contribute to development and improvement of Akaysha project management tools, policies and procedures.

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a similar position in the energy sector
  • Renewables construction experience will be regarded highly but not essential – our ideal candidate will have project management experience with an EPC
  • Managed teams in a major project environment
  • Management and reporting of budgetary requirements
  • Management of complex infrastructure contracts
  • Negotiation with major stakeholders.
  • Experience in high pressure environment
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Extensive contracts management experience

Strong knowledge of specific challenges in relation to generation projects such as renewables or BESS, high voltage project experience and experience developing or early project delivery and negotiating contracts will be highly regarded.
