The Opportunity:

Your Role:

The Senior HSE Manager will provide leadership, programs and initiatives that promote and support a healthy, safe and enjoyable work environment. Ensuring we are keeping abreast of all regulatory and compliance requirements, while most importantly setting the policies, programs, training, and communications to keep our employees safe. This individual works closely with business, R&D and operations leadership to ensure our processes and operations are focused on our project goals. Working through key team members and other key functional leadership, keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization, review, and advise on all potential risks, and is the voice for the company on all issues related to these areas internally and externally. This individual reports to the President.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and leads the execution of LDIS HSE safety strategy: Implement a safety-first culture throughout the organization. Develop strong stakeholder relationships to influence business strategies, drive compliance and organizational change. Provide leadership for EHS & R including Sustainability programs in a fast paced, cross functional and highly collaborative environment. Prioritize regularly, initiatives and resources to maximize effectiveness.
  • Develops policies and guidelines: Proactively manage EHS & R including Sustainability within the organization to comply with all applicable federal, state, local regulations and to create the necessary standards to achieve a safe and productive workplace while minimizing the impact to the environment. Undertakes research to identify contemporary standards and practices in safety risk management. Establishes and leads EHS policies and process standards [Including ISO 14000 (Environmental) & OSHA 18000 (Workplace Safety Standard) for the division.] Ensure our projects globally are fully compliant with all environmental, health and safety policies and protocols, including regulatory requirements.
  • Provide health and safety expertise to management: Provides expertise, support and advice to management, clients and client operations on workplace health, safety and prevention issues and policies; provides working interpretations of all relevant legislation
  • Business Development: Collaborate with leadership to understand EHS & R including Sustainability needs to support business growth and partners to align strategy with the execution in engineering, procurement, and construction. Collaborate with the business, operations, and maintenance functions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support business growth/initiatives.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting: Serve as business liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections or regulatory negotiations. Provides expertise in incident investigation, root cause analyses, and corrective action; reports to management and the appropriate government authorities. Assist as needed in investigation of incidents and non-compliance events to determine contributing factors and recommend actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Conducts risk assessments: Tracks and analyzes statistics, ensures documentation and communicates corrective action. Maintain/implement systems to satisfy environmental permit and reporting requirements (air, water, waste regulatory requirements) for projects as requested. Monitor regulatory developments and work with site/HSE team members to develop/implement necessary changes.
  • Provide technical support for the implementation of critical PSM compliance programs and projects across the site.
  • Develops programs in support of workplace health and safety: Establishes and responsible for goals and implements programs for the division’s EHS organization to improve year over year results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in industrial safety, Safety Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of chemical process/refinery experience, as well as progressive experience in Health and Safety program management
  • Possesses strong leadership skills and abilities, including effective influencing, excellent communication skills, (verbal, written, listening), and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PSM regulations (OSHA 1910 or RMP)

Minimum Salary: $140,000+ Annually, depending on level of experience, education and location.
