Location
This position is with a prominent power engineering company based in Syracuse, NY, offering a Remote/Hybrid work arrangement. Candidates must reside in the Syracuse, NY area to be eligible.
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in substation design within the Power Delivery Substation Department. The incumbent will be responsible for a range of activities relating to the design and engineering of power distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed substation layout drawings, including plans, elevations, yard layouts, and more.
- Create electrical schematics, equipment wiring, and cable schedules.
- Conduct engineering calculations and prepare related reports.
- Prepare equipment specifications for substation components and constructions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in power distribution and high voltage substations.
- Experience with substation projects ranging from 15kV to 500kV.
- A strong understanding of IEEE/ANSI standards related to substation design.
- Professional Engineering license (PE) is preferred; EIT certification may also be required within a specified timeframe.
- Managerial and leadership abilities are an advantage.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Experience
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and energy storage.
Compensation And Benefits
- Salary range: (80,000 to )120,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
