Senior Counsel, Finance – Remote | WFH

Role Overview

As our Senior Counsel, you will be a key player in facilitating the financing of utility-scale standalone energy storage and solar-plus-storage projects. You’ll provide crucial legal support during a period of significant company growth, assisting in corporate financing and tax structuring initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financing renewable and/or energy storage projects.

Responsibilities

Lead complex legal services for financing utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable projects.

Serve as the legal expert on finance matters and collaborate with other departments as necessary.

Assist the finance team in executing project and corporate financings, including assessing financing structures, drafting agreements, and overseeing closing processes.

Enhance internal transaction processes and contract templates for efficiency and compliance.

Ensure financeable legal and commercial terms in project execution and offtake contracts.

Provide legal support for cross-functional teams and oversee external counsel on finance matters.

Identify and communicate material risks and proposed solutions to senior management.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

JD from an accredited law school.

Active bar licensure in at least one US jurisdiction.

5+ years of post-qualification experience in project financing within renewable energy or energy storage.

Expertise in project/portfolio and corporate financing matters, including debt, tax equity, and ITC/PTC adders.

Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

High ethical standards and integrity.
