About the Job

The Senior Commercial Manager will play a critical role in our growing Battery Energy Storage System division within Trina Storage and contribute to our expansion across the North America marketplace. The Senior Commercial Manager will own and lead the negotiation of BESS supply and service contracts with our end customers, including IPPs, developers, owners, EPCs, contractors and suppliers.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own and lead the negotiation of BESS supply and service contracts, analyzing commercial and legal aspects to develop favorable competitive agreements that help grow the execution pipeline
  • Lead the customer and sub-contractor contract negotiation phase for equipment, services, and EPC contracts by collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of contracts, identifying risks and opportunities, developing strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities
  • Interact with external parties including customers, vendors, and suppliers
  • Actively identify opportunities to improve business processes and support the implementation
  • Ensure the organization’s internal contract documents are accurate and well maintained
  • Create, prepare, review and support internal legal team in contract preparation, including exhibits and amendments
  • Provide contract support to the project’s team during contract negotiation

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Management, or related degree
  • 4+ years commercial contract negotiation experience for equipment supply and service in the renewable energy sector
  • Demonstrated understanding of legal terminology and concepts related to commercial contracts
  • Excellent critical reasoning and negotiation skills
  • Proven experience in partnering with internal and external stakeholders in sales, engineering, legal, procurement, and service to optimize negotiation responses and the decision-making process
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong “intrapreneurial” mindset for process analysis, problem solving and strategy development skills
  • Ability to make critical decisions in the face of limited or conflicting data and under time pressure
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally and work intensively during negotiation period
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence with executive level presentations
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and proven leadership skills in virtual project teams
  • Ability to manage multiple complex activities simultaneously

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, education, skills, and experience. Additional discretionary incentive may be available. Full-time employees are eligible for PTO, medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) plan and flexible spending accounts, subject to plan terms.
