AD Energy is working with our partner client who has an extraordinary background in delivering RNG projects across North America. They have an opportunity for a Renewable Natural Gas Project Engineer to join the business on a full-time basis working remotely.

Overview

Successfully execute RNG project activities with a team of professional engineers, project managers, and business leaders while maintaining schedule and budget. Support the review and expediting of design deliverables from third-party and internal engineering resources. Facilitate technical memo creation, liaise in project-related meetings, coordinate for utility interconnection, and lead on behalf of the ownership group in HAZOP reviews. Complete on-site field engineering reviews and identify technical issues and approaches for evaluation. Ensure the following of permits and regulations related to the design and installation of biogas and RNG facilities. Review and coordinate commissioning and startup activities including equipment performance testing. Review project designs for monetization program applicability (RFS, LCFS, ISCC, etc.). Advise on all technical aspects of RNG project delivery including site investigations, project due diligence, and equipment specifications and selection.

Salary $100,000 -$125,000.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Prepares basis of design documentation as well as process flow diagrams and mass and energy balances.
  • Analyzes equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine appropriate designs and contractual needs.
  • Reviews and checks engineering deliverables of 3rd party process engineers to determine accuracy and completeness while also reviewing for constructability and operability.
  • Participates in HAZOP and PHA studies on behalf of facility ownership.
  • Able to handle multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
  • Review project proposals, contracts, specifications, project budgets, project information forms and other documentation to ensure all information is available and consistent to successfully execute the project.
  • Work alongside project manager to coordinate and drive all aspects of projects including obtaining entitlements, permits, business licenses, engineering design and drawing preparation, equipment specification and ordering, facility design, utility applications, construction, commissioning, performance testing, and turnover to operations.
  • Determine any federal, state, and local requirements necessary for construction, and coordinate project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • Prepare and provide project status reports and ensure project documentation is complete and accurate. Schedule conduct and document periodic status meetings with the project and design teams.
  • Partner with Business Development personnel to channel technical communication with project partners.
  • Coordinate with local utilities including technical review, submittal applications, and installation of the equipment to ensure timely completion within the project design and schedule.
  • Inspect the work in progress, drawings, and specifications to ensure that workmanship conforms to contract specifications and the adherence to construction schedules. Coordinate with project manager and project stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of field discrepancies or clarifications.
  • Interface with respective public and regulatory officials including authorities having jurisdiction (fire chief, etc.), insurance entities, EPA, OSHA, etc.
  • Travel to various project sites to develop site assessments, supervise critical construction activities, and commission and closeout projects, with up to 50% travel monthly.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely.
  • Interpret, calculate, and analyze Carbon Intensity scores of projects.
  • Support negotiation of contracts with vendors and equipment suppliers including EPC contractors, engineers, equipment vendors, CI modelers, insurance providers and others.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Coordination of design inputs and design activities with other engineering disciplines in a team environment.
  • Able to interface directly with project managers, engineers, 3rd party engineering firms, EPC firms, construction personnel, operations personnel, and other project stakeholders relative to the overall success of the project or facility.
  • Manage the delivery of necessary documentation and notifications to support start up and commissioning and close out all punch list items to ensure successful turnover to operations.
  • Participate in weekly, monthly and quarterly project status meetings, calls or visits.
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Contribute to ongoing composition of our compliance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that covers all steps required to submit and validate pathways, perform verification services, meet RFS deadlines, etc., ensuring regulatory adherence and internal procedural improvements.
  • Ability to remain flexible, work with a dynamic team, maintain excellent organization, and perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited University
  • 3-5 years of related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred chemical, process, or mechanical bachelors degree.
