Job Summary

This singular position is an individual contributor, and reports directly to the Manager Business Interruption Management (BIM). Position participates in the implementation of PSEGs Executive Crisis Management Program, Business Continuity Program, Disaster Recovery, Life Safety & Evacuation, Operating Company Emergency Response, and the Asset Protection and Homeland Security Programs. Hence, this is a Position of Trust. Mission of the referenced programs, in most basic form, is to protect the Companys people, assets, reputation, and reliability. Position accomplishes this mission by:

  • Managing the Companys most prominent emergency notification process.
  • Managing the Companys Government Emergency Telecommunications Services (GETS) and Wireless Priority Services (WPS).
  • Managing the Companys Family Preparedness Working Group.
  • Supporting (Corporate Security organization support capacity) the Companys Executive Crisis Management team.
  • Participating in the Companys 24 hour/7 day On-Duty-Officer Services Rotational Program
  • Managing the departments Records Management Process.
  • Serves as the Business Continuity Coordinator for the Corporate Security & Properties Department (CS&P).
  • Coordinating with Program Resiliency Manager on Life Safety Initiatives including, Fire Warden Program, General Office (GO) Drills (Full Building Evacuation, Shelter in Place, Lock down, etc.) and assists with Emergency Preparedness Working Group quarterly meetings.
  • Coordinating with Program Business Continuity Manager with management of the Business Continuity Plans (BCPs), Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), Business Continuity annual workshop, Business Interruption Management quarterly meetings, and the planning and moderating of exercises.
  • Participates in the Companys Risk Assessment Framework Initiative, the IT Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) Stage Gate Process.
  • Advising the Manager, and VP, Corporate Security & Properties (CS&P) on compliance initiatives.
  • Attend Intelligence/Analyst Roundtable meetings with industry partners, Emergency Preparedness officials, and law enforcement agencies to obtain and share threat information, crime statistics and hazard information for dissemination to key stakeholders within the Company.
  • Coordinates and distributes quarterly Business Continuity Newsletter.
  • Drafts security and preparedness messages internally via The Link.
  • Coordinates and moderates virtual security related and preparedness events for Company employees.

Special Note:
Less than optimum performance of this position could negatively impact the safety of PSEG employees, the reliability of the Companys critical infrastructure, and the security of PSEGs assets and executives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Business Continuity: In the role as Business Continuity Coordinator for the CS&P, is responsible for demonstrating an acceptable level of knowledge of the department, ensuring all business practices and IT processes are documented, maintained, and tested through the BCP and serves as CS&Ps first line of support for BCP issues, activation,
  • Emergency Response: Coordinates BIM Emergency Preparedness Group initiatives; advises on status of pending action items and completion of compliance initiatives.
  • Executive Crisis Management Team (ECMT) serves as support position to this Executive-level team, providing logistical support during drill and actual activations.
  • Homeland Security: Coordinates the compilation and weekly distribution of the Corporate Security & Cyber Security Weekly Intelligence & Threat Report, by conducting searches of open-source intelligence to identify external threats. Interface and partnering with industry peers, public sector law enforcement and private sector security specialists to obtain threat and trend information on safety and security related matters.
  • Records Management: Serve as the Corporate Security Records Management Coordinator. Act as liaison between department record holders and Records Management Department.
  • Culture: Promote a culture of safety and security through participation of daily and weekly utility calls to deliver messages encompassing security policies and reminders.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in business/criminal justice or equivalent (4 years) law enforcement, corporate security, crisis management/business continuity, homeland security, or relevant utility experience.
  • Excellent project management ability, organization and decision-making skills coupled with superb written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent intelligence, analytical, writing and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 software suite including Outlook, SharePoint, Excel and Word.
  • Advanced Zoom/MS Teams skills.
  • Experience using data management tools, especially emergency notification software.

Required Competencies:

  • Ability to oversee complex, diverse security, resiliency and continuity initiatives, understand their overlap, and create pathways to success in protecting people, assets, and information.
  • Capable of routinely interfacing with all levels of management, including Senior Executive Team (SET), officers, members of the Executive Crisis Management team, Business Continuity Coordinators.
  • Superb communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop, and deliver, training programs.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and client relationship skills.
  • Understands, and can opine upon, the program management processes for asset protection, crisis management, business continuity, and homeland security.
  • Understands, with ability to implement, PQMI (Process Quality Management Improvement) techniques, ISO9000, and Six Sigma Processes.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferably in business administration or criminal justice.
  • 5 to 7 years of law enforcement, security, homeland security or relevant utility experience.
  • Possess, or on pathway to obtain, an applicable certification: Certified Protection Professional, Physical Security Professional, Certified Fraud Examiner, NIMS Series Certification, Certified Business Continuity Professional, or equivalent designation.
