Position Summary
The Research Integrity Coordinator is a professional staff member in the division of Research and Graduate Studies (RGS) at Portland State University (PSU), the unit responsible for managing federally-required compliance programs associated with research activity.

This position serves as a member of the Research Integrity and Compliance team responsible for

  • issuing compliance and ethics approvals to University researchers for a large volume and diverse portfolio of both sponsored and non-sponsored research;
  • negotiating collaborative agreements with external research partner institutions; and
  • overseeing multiple research compliance review committees, including the Institutional Review Board for the protection of human subjects (IRB), the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).
The Research Integrity Coordinator utilizes subject matter expertise to review a diverse portfolio of research compliance protocols. They execute ethical and regulatory compliance review and determinations for research conducted in support of the Universitys academic mission; provide regulatory interpretation; and inform policy development and implementation. This position reports to the Director of Research Integrity and Compliance Operations (Director).
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS with related experience in Research Integrity
  • General understanding of Research Integrity regulations, and best practices for conducting ethical research
  • Experience using multiple resources and references to understand complex regulations and research ethics
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient with database applications, spreadsheets and workbooks, and digital communication tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • BA/BS with 3+ years of related experience
  • Knowledge of overall research administration in a University environment
  • Professional experience in providing administrative or compliance support to faculty committees
  • Working experience with formal documentation
  • Experience maintaining and updating websites and web content
  • Demonstrated reasoning and problem solving skills by making effective decisions and recommendations in the workplace

Work Days/Hours
Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. Flexible work arrangements offered.
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The starting annual salary for this position will be $51,984, but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors such as years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, internal equity, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.

Position Eligible for Hybrid/Remote Work

This position offers flexible work arrangements, including partial remote work options, contingent upon meeting performance standards and expectations as outlined in PSUs remote work agreement. However, employees are required to come to campus for in-person meetings as needed. Additionally, all staff must attend four annual on-campus gatherings for team meetings and professional development, regardless of their regular work location. This arrangement balances individual flexibility with strong team connections.
