Position Summary
The Survey Research Center (SRC) at the University of Wisconsin River Falls is seeking a Research Associate to help implement surveys and analyze data. The SRC conducts between 20 and 30 surveys per year for academic and extension clients, non-profit organizations, state and local governments, community development organizations, food co-ops, etc. Projects cover a wide range of topics, including land use, issues facing farmers and agribusinesses, the experiences/opinions of local residents, customer satisfaction, broadband access, diversity and inclusion, etc. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of research and management staff and undergraduate student assistants to work collaboratively in a fast-paced academic environment.
This is a part-time, permanent, academic staff position that offers a full suite of university benefits. The position is annually renewable based on performance and availability of funding. Flexible working hours and work-from-home opportunities are available.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.

Responsibilities
The Research Associate will work under the supervision of the director of the SRC. The candidate will be responsible for consulting with clients, creating cost estimates, developing questionnaires for mail and online surveys, overseeing data collection, conducting statistical analysis of survey data, writing research reports, and presenting results. The Research Associate will also assist with other tasks as assigned by the director.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Social science survey research experience:
  • Must have survey design and/or social science research experience, including experience in online or mail survey development;
  • Must have an understanding of descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, geospatial analysis, and an ability to work with large datasets in Microsoft Excel and/or other statistical analysis software (Stata, R, SPSS, etc.) Experience with quantitative or empirical analysis is desirable.
  • Experience/skill in grant writing and pursuing external funding for projects is preferred.
Communication skills:
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively on time-sensitive projects;
  • Must have the ability to interact directly with clients to understand project needs and manage client relationships;
  • Must demonstrate professionalism in the workplace and in communication with clients;
  • Experience in marketing, promotion, and client acquisition and retention is preferred.
Educational background:
  • A Masters degree or equivalent in a social science discipline such as economics, agricultural economics, sociology, community development, or related field is required.
  • A Masters degree in other analytical disciplines such as statistics, public health, education, or geography, with applications in social science will also satisfy this requirement.
