Job Summary:
The PV (Photovoltaics) Engineer I will work in the PV team at Array to implement our advanced tracker control software on utility-scale PV power plants and to evaluate the resulting performance.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Work in a team to implement Array’s proprietary solar tracker optimization technology (SmarTrackTM) on solar power plants to fulfill customer orders, following an established process.
- Collaborate on multiple SmarTrackTM implementation projects simultaneously.
- Communicate regularly with customers and their affiliated parties to guide them through the SmarTrackTM implementation process, collect necessary information, and schedule activities.
- Analyze and interpret solar site design drawings and other technical documents supplied by customers, translating them into a format compatible with Array’s software for the implementation.
- Learn and use existing tools to deploy the solar tracking optimization software, following the established process.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of Array’s advanced solar tracking software and deployment tools.
- Support the data analysis to evaluate the resulting performance gains, using PV performance modeling tools and executing sensitivity analysis when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in engineering or physical sciences; You’ll be required to present an example of your engineering or scientific work (for example, capstone project) in the interview process.
- Passion for learning to understand PV industry practices, PV project documents, PV power plant SCADA systems, and PV operation data analysis.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow work instructions and established processes to complete tasks.
- Ability to work on several projects at once, working collaboratively as needed.
- Eagerness to learn and apply computer programming skills.
- The candidate will be subjected to an in-depth technical interview in the interview process. The candidate will be asked to present a sample of their engineering or scientific work and answer questions.
Preferred qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience working for a PV operations and maintenance (O&M) provider, a PV engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) company, an independent engineering firm reviewing PV projects, or a PV project developer.
- Experience with site networks/SCADA.
- Experience in computer programming, especially Python.
- Experience with PV modeling software (e.g., PVsyst, PlantPredict, SolarFarmer, pvlib, etc.).
- Experience in field installations or commissioning of PV power plants.
