Job Summary

The Transmission PMO is responsible for developing and executing capital projects across the state of Georgia during a time of substantial growth. This leadership position provides strategic direction for the GPC Transmission Project Management Organization (PMO), overseeing the statewide Transmission Grid Investment Plan, Interconnections, Technology Projects and Physical Security project management teams. The Regulatory Manager will be instrumental in driving the vision, strategy, and execution of key projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a culture of innovation and inclusion. The positions impact on numerous critical functions requires the successful candidate to be an effective 360-degree leader who builds trust and credibility from the frontline to peer leaders to executive audiences inside and outside the company. Key internal partnerships include all areas of Transmission, Distribution, SCS System Planning, AFT, SCS Business Operations, Legal and Regulatory Affairs. This position also requires the ability to craft responses to data requests from the Public Service Commission staff and others in support of the Grid Investment Plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic, collaborative leadership and support for project managers overseeing assigned capital projects in Georgia.
  • Process Optimization: Ensure the gated process is followed for prompt and efficient project development and execution. Identify opportunities for efficiencies and implement solutions.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Collaborate closely with key partners to support successful project completion.
  • Strategic Formulation: Formulate strategies to enhance project processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Actively engage and partner with the Stakeholder Engagement team for effective and timely customer communications.
  • Strategic Support: Support the development and management of the transmission capital budget. Collaborate with peer managers in PMO and Governance organizations.
  • Documentation and Approvals: Ensure all project documentation is promptly routed with the appropriate TPRT and T&D approvals.
  • Budget Accuracy: Ensure the team provides accurate monthly budget projections and detailed variance explanations. Leverage learnings to improve budget estimate accuracy.
  • Portfolio Management: Support the Capital Portfolio Manager in all budget rebuilding exercises throughout the year.

Job Requirements

  • Education

+ B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Business, or related field or relevant work experience beneficial

+ Advanced degree and/or PE/PMP certification is a plus.

  • Experience and Knowledge

+ Demonstrated Safety focus.

+ Demonstrated leadership with supervisory or managerial experience, including performance management responsibilities, with a minimum of 3 years required.

+ Experience in the following areas is beneficial:

  • Transmission Planning, Transmission Design/Engineering, Transmission Construction, Transmission Maintenance, Transmission Operations, and/or Power Delivery Project Management

+ Experience in Project Management on large capital projects beneficial.

+ Proven experience in successfully managing multiple internal and external relationships.

+ Proven experience in leading through change and/or process improvement.

+ Familiarity and experience with the Gated process beneficial.
