Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Project Manager for Renewable Hydrogen/Power-to-X Development to support a leading developer, owner, and operator‘s expanding portfolio of projects with innovative clients across Canada and North America. This position is ideal for a versatile individual with the ability to simplify complex technical and regulatory topics related to renewable fuel technologies, including electrolysis, methanol synthesis, methanation, carbon capture, and associated facilities. The successful candidate will excel in problem-solving, analytical thinking, and relationship-building, while effectively collaborating with team members, often in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of renewable hydrogen and Power-to-X projects.
  • Create and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to meet project goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, finance, and regulatory departments, to align project objectives with broader company strategy.
  • Supervise the preparation of project documentation, such as charters, schedules, risk management plans, and progress reports.
  • Assess and choose technology vendors for essential components like electrolyzers, methanation systems, and methanol production technologies.
  • Perform due diligence on technology vendors, evaluating their technical performance, cost efficiency, scalability, and alignment with project needs.
  • Collaborate with vendors to grasp their offerings, negotiate contracts, and ensure they meet project specifications and timelines.
  • Keep informed about the latest developments in hydrogen production, methanation, and methanol technologies to guide vendor selection and project planning.
  • Assess and choose technology vendors for essential components like electrolyzers, methanation systems, and methanol production technologies.

  • Perform thorough due diligence on technology vendors, evaluating their technical capabilities, cost efficiency, scalability, and fit with project requirements.
  • Interact with vendors to understand their products, negotiate contracts, and ensure they align with project specifications and timelines.
  • Remain informed about the latest advancements in hydrogen production, methanation, and methanol technologies to guide vendor selection and project planning.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and partners.
  • Oversee relationships with external contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders to address issues and keep projects on schedule
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create contingency plans and modify project strategies as necessary to tackle unexpected challenges.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Deliver regular updates to senior management regarding project status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Keep comprehensive project records, including technical documentation, financial reports, and compliance materials.
  • Prepare and present project reports that include performance metrics and evaluations after project completion.

Project Manager Requirements:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering.
  • A master’s degree in business administration or engineering is a plus.
  • Have 3 to 5 years of experience, with relevant expertise in the renewable energy sector, infrastructure, and/or project management being advantageous.
  • Possess strong technical skills in engineering, including technical modeling and analysis.
  • Be highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Demonstrate strong quantification abilities, including cost-benefit analysis, scenario analysis, projections, regressions, and data visualization using charts and graphs.
  • Exhibit effective communication skills in verbal, written, and presentation formats.
  • Be capable of multitasking and prioritizing tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Be well-organized and able to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Be a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, driven team environment.
  • Be ambitious and proactive, able to think strategically, see the bigger picture, set significant goals, and develop actionable plans to achieve them.
  • Adapt comfortably to a fast-paced and challenging environment.
