Job Description

I’m working on a Project Finance Analyst vacancy for a innovative and growing Utility Scale IPP in the United States. The team you will be joining is full of fantastic finance expertise. This vacancy is remote! With occasional travel to the office, if you’re looking for development in your career under one of the best finance teams in the States, this position is for you!

My client has become a leading Utility Scale Independent Power Producer (IPP) dedicated to advancing renewable energy projects across various markets.

Position Overview:

The Project Finance Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the financing and development of utility-scale renewable energy projects. This position requires a deep understanding of financial modeling, project finance, and tax equity structuring. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently in a remote setting, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the successful financial structuring and execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain complex financial models for utility-scale renewable energy projects, including detailed cash flow analysis, revenue projections, expenses, capital costs, and financing structures.
  • Build and refine tax equity models, including Partnership Flip, Sale-Leaseback, and Inverted Lease structures, to optimize tax benefits and returns for investors and project sponsors.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential projects, including market research, risk assessment, and financial analysis.
  • Assist in preparing presentations and reports for internal stakeholders, lenders, and investors, clearly articulating financial outcomes and assumptions.
  • Support the negotiation and structuring of project finance agreements, including debt and equity financing, tax equity, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
  • Analyze and monitor project performance against financial projections and identify key drivers and risks.
  • Assist in the preparation of investment memos and other materials for senior management and board approvals.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to provide insights and recommendations for project development and financing strategies.
  • Provide analytical support for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities, including the valuation of potential targets and the assessment of strategic fit.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, renewable energy, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on tax equity structuring.
  • Proven experience in tax equity modeling and structuring for renewable energy projects, including familiarity with various tax equity structures such as Partnership Flip, Sale-Leaseback, and Inverted Lease.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, with advanced Excel skills.
