Job Description Job Summary:

The production planner ensures timely release of production jobs and material availability. Duties include ordering materials, monitoring scheduling timelines, analyzing production delays, and developing cost estimates. This position requires an associate or bachelor’s degree, usually in business. Other qualifications include management experience, industry knowledge, and strong communication skills.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure production plans meet sales forecast and customer demand
  • Interface with supply chain production team regarding material availability and shortages
  • Communicate requirements and capacities to relevant departments and colleagues, ensuring strong institutional awareness
  • Adjust production processes according to current and emerging needs
  • Collaborates with the customer service and sales departments to identify and resolve concerns.
  • Identifies any bottlenecks or delays in production; ensures necessary labor, materials, and other resources are available to relieve production bottlenecks and delays.
  • Uses production planning and scheduling to limit materials shortages.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing requirements and planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with computerized materials control programs.
  • Proficient with Epicor Manufacturing ERP/MRP or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field required or Related APICS certification. At least three years of relevant experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
