Position: Product Engineer Type: Direct Hire Location: Goleta, CA Salary Range: $76K-$81K Summary Kelly Engineering is seeking a qualified Product Engineer for a direct hire role with our client in Goleta, CA. The Product Engineer will help expand the design and production of electric vehicle and energy storage system battery components and assemblies by working with other groups including Business Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Sales, R&D and Quality. The Product Engineer is responsible for technical communication, specifications, and performance for new and mature products. The Product Engineer also generates or supports process and cost modeling for part and project quotations.

Responsibilities

  • Customer technical communication via email, phone, web meeting, and face to face meetings
  • Component and assembly design support
  • Product technical specification development and refinement
  • Design for manufacturability in coordination with other company groups
  • Cost and process modeling
  • New product build planning and coordination support
  • Product verification and validation testing support
  • Product qualification management
  • Part and process data package compilation support
  • Voice of the customer within company
  • Bridge between customer needs and company’s manufacturing capability
  • Technical marketing support
  • Contribute to regularly scheduled company-wide status updates on all active programs

QAULIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 1+ year minimum relevant work experience
  • Rechargeable battery technology experience preferred
  • Print and GD&T understanding
  • Part dimension inspection methods and equipment familiarity
  • Basic materials and material science understanding
  • Solid modeling capability (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Stress and vibration analyses understanding
  • Finite element analysis familiarity (ANSYS preferred)
  • Statistical data analyses, experimental design and SPC familiarity
  • Project management capability
  • Creative and open-minded approach
  • Self-starter with a positive can-do attitude
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills

Work Environment: Typical desk/office environment, some work in press room, tool room, clean room and lab areas. Some exposure to loud manufacturing operation noise
