The Opportunity
The Pursuit Manager for Process Solutions will function in a lead capacity. You will own multiple EPC and Services proposals in LNG and Sustainable Process. These solutions encompass LNG Production & Storage, Hydrogen & Ammonia, Sustainable Fuels, Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage, Gas Processing and more. In this role, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate:

  • Understanding of pursuits and project execution from a background in a previous project execution function (e.g., ENG, PJC, PM, PCR, SUB, CNS, etc.)
  • Proven ability to drive cross functional leaders to results through strategic thinking and implementation of successful pursuit game planning.
  • Advanced Leadership skills
  • Influence in the negotiation and closure of deals.
  • Supervisory skills and management of the work of others, achieving results.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Understanding of Sales & Pursuits across sectors / solutions supported.
  • Understanding of Sector / Solution NB Strategies and budgets

Please note: This role will be hybrid: 2 days per week remote, 3 days per week in-office from any Black & Veatch office in the US.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for management (preparation, assembly, review, and submittal) of responses to Request for Proposals (RFP) in accordance with governance. Assigned proposals may range from small to large scope and generally have medium to high-risk profiles.
  • Interfaces directly with the sales manager, the project director, and the project manager, as equals, to develop the proposal execution strategy / schedule, assemble proposal response team, and develop the project execution plan and value proposition / win strategies.
  • Ensure conceptual design and business enablement functional teams (estimating, project controls, construction, procurement, subcontracts, LIFTT) are held accountable to provide deliverables in accordance with proposal development schedule.
  • Monitors and manages pursuit team expenditures to align with approved budgets.
  • Participate in cost review and influences team to provide responses with competitive cost and value.
  • Facilitate and lead risk determination / mitigation and leadership approval discussions. Supports negotiation and closure of deals.
  • Facilitate discussion and actions to transition proposal basis information to the project execution team upon contract signature.
  • Actively implements proposal process improvements, incorporates lessons learned and cost reduction ideas, and analyzes market intelligence of competitors.
  • Drives and measures pursuit team successes in direct collaboration with Pursuit Director and Sector / Solution leadership.
  • May manage and supervise the day to day, career development and progression of other solution pursuit managers.
  • Supports development of sector / solution NB capture strategies and budgets.

Management Responsibilities
Acts in capacity of a “lead person.” Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience working in an EPC and/or project management firm
  • Experience working with LNG, Sustainable Process, or other Process Solution projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering, project or proposal experience
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications
Proposals, sales, and negotiation training preferred

Work Environment/Physical Demands
Normal office environment (keyboarding and sitting) with hybrid work schedule: 3 days working in the office and 2 days remote
