Job Overview:
Lummus Consultants International is looking for an experienced process engineer to support our growing decarbonization business. This position will be focused on the petrochemical and refinery areas. This new decarbonization practice encompasses carbon solutions (strategies to reduce and capture greenhouse gases) and clean fuels (hydrogen, biofuels, etc.). The decarbonization business works with Lummus Consultants existing global practice areas with the aim to provide more focused emphasis and growth in the global energy transition. This role will also interact with Lummus Consultants parent organization, Lummus Technology. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong interest and broad global knowledge of decarbonization and energy transition issues while also having broad knowledge in refining and petrochemical processes. The highly self-motivated candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be adept at strategic thinking to independently vet high-level greenhouse gas reduction solutions. The individual we are seeking must be comfortable and confident to work in a seller/doer organization structure.
Lummus Consultants is an autonomous international business within Lummus Technology that provides technical due diligence to lenders, investors, owners, sellers, buyers and project developers. We have work in a broad range of technologies, particularly in energy offshore and onshore oil & gas, LNG, pipelines, power generation and transmission, as well as refining and petrochemicals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand the refinery and petrochemical plant flow scheme and work to assist clients with options to reduce their carbon footprint.
  • Participate as a team member in a wide range of consulting assignments.
  • Conduct research and stay abreast of new technology solutions in the market.
  • Perform high level screening of decarbonization options for refining and petrochem clients.
  • Conduct process simulations using PRO II and/or Aspen Plus software.
  • Interact with Lummus Technology and Lummus Consultants team to jointly pursue opportunities.
  • Participate in consulting project work.
  • Prepare clear and concise written reports on assignments, develop conclusions and assist in presenting verbal results to clients.
  • Assist in business development. marketing and proposal preparation efforts.
  • Achieve objectives with minimal oversight.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 12 years relevant professional experience in process engineering.
  • Previous experience with decarbonization is a plus but not required.
  • Strong verbal skills and previous roles with client interaction.
  • Strong written communication skills including the ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with peers and clients from various international backgrounds.
  • Good computer literacy Word, PowerPoint Excel, PRO II and/or Aspen Plus.
Office location and travel:
  • Houston, TX, preferred. Other locations will be considered.
  • Approximately 20% based on business plan.
