As our Power System Operations Engineer I, II, you will be part of MISOs Real Time Operations groupwhere the rubber meets the road. Our operators and engineers work collaboratively to make complex and quick decisions. This team coordinates the use of the transmission system by ensuring flows stay within prescribed limits and partners with transmission operators and neighboring reliability coordinators to maintain reliability.

You will also be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and availability of one of the most important Energy Management Systems (EMS) in the Eastern Interconnection. You will monitor inputs from ICCP, SCADA into the State Estimator. You will ensure accurate contingency analysis study results. You will provide study results that assist in making MISO the most reliable, value-creating RTO. You will get to participate in projects that lead the way for the operations of the future.

In one year as our Power System Operations Engineer I, II, you will know you were successful if you have a basic understanding of the MISO footprint, the suite of real time engineering tools and have established relationships with operators and external/internal stakeholders.

We are looking for hardworking engineers who have:

  • At least a Bachelors degree in any of the following:

Electrical Engineering

Computer Engineering

Electrical Engineering Technology

Electrical and Computer Engineering

Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology

  • The ability and willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule

We would also prefer engineers with the following:

  • Utility, transmission operations, real-time operations, or related experience
  • Transient/Voltage stability experience
  • Programming Experience in C, C++, VBA, Perl, Python

This can be an entry level position for the right candidate. Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
