Job Summary

The Quality Manager is responsible for the establishment, implementation and maintenance of a quality system that meets the required standards. The incumbent must manage departmental activities and customer service related to quality issues. The Quality Manager serves as the Management Representative for IATF 16949 and China Compulsory Certification (CCC), the Technical Representative for the China Compulsory Certification (CCC), and the Customer Representative. Work is performed in a fast paced environment within tight time constraints. Unusual hours and travel may be required. This is a salaried, exempt position.

Reporting Relationships

This position reports directly to the Plant Director and dotted line to the Regional Quality Director. The incumbent may also receive direction from the Corporate (Paris) Quality Management group

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates all elements of the plant’s quality program including its development and administration, setting of quality objectives. May be responsible to ensure customer requirements are met (including but not limited to: setting quality objective, corrective and preventive actions, capacity analysis, logistics information, customer score cards and customer portals.)
  • Establishes strategic quality plans, policies, and procedures at all levels to ensure the quality system will meet internal and external customer’s needs and expectations
  • Develops and implements a department budget planning process
  • Leads, manages, and directs the Quality Department Staff
  • Conducts performance reviews of direct reports
  • Identifies quality training requirements
  • Supports customer concerns/complaints
  • Supports Quality Engineers with quality/supplier issues
  • Maintains authority and responsibility to stop production when a quality or safety issue arises ,
  • Assists all levels of the organization with gaining awareness of continuous improvement processes
  • Ensures the CCC requirements (CQC16-491285-2022) are effectively established, implemented, and maintained in the plant
  • Ensures product consistency and conformity between the product and the standards/specifications
  • Correctly uses the CCC certificate and mark, and ensures continuous validity of certificate status of products affixed with the CCC mark
  • Approves any changes to the CCC COP Plan (Control Plan)
  • Approves the CCC COP operation report (annual report) and will provide it to the auditors as requested.
  • If primary contact for FCA program, may be trained FCA related computer applications as listed in FCA US LLC Customer-Specific Requirements for IATF 16949:2016. FCA computer applications may not be all inclusive, additional applications may be revised.
  • If primary contact for Ford program, may be trained in Ford system courses; Covisint (Ford Supplier Portal) Covisint (Ford Supplier) applications may not be all inclusive, additional applications may be revised.
  • Train as a Crisis Team member annually

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • 5 to 8 years’ experience in automotive quality assurance, 3 of which are in management
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent combination of education and exp
  • Knowledge and implementation of quality systems
  • Advanced computer skills including Excel, Word, Power Point, Minitab
  • Problem solving and continuous improvement skills
  • Ability to communicate to management, operators and customers
  • Working knowledge of: Process (blow molding, machining, assembly, test, tooling) and product application
  • Must successfully complete all required training, including but not limited to: Problem Solving Training and PFMEA training
  • Must comply with all work rules, policies and procedures
  • Must comply with all safety rules and regulations
  • Work requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, and stooping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
