Position Details

Hourly: $32 per hour, paid biweekly

Working Conditions: Part-Time Remote, 15hrs/week, Occasional Domestic Travel, Technical Setup Provided (Laptop, Monitor, Accessories)

Position Description

The Institute for Market Transformation seeks a motivated individual to support our work to decarbonize buildings while benefitting the communities they are ina foundational component to create jobs, reduce harmful pollution, and create healthier spaces in American cities. Each of our staff brings a unique perspective and background to the organization with experience in community engagement and the federal government, real estate and utility sector.

To advance our mission, we seek a part-time associate who is passionate about supporting equitable decarbonization and climate justice through better buildings. The communications associate will be a contributing team member that will participate in weekly planning sessions and help execute on IMTs digital communications strategy and other priority work. This is a valuable opportunity to gain experience in the clean energy industry as well as the nonprofit sector.

Responsibilities

You will report to the Director of Communications and support projects across the organization. Responsibilities include:

  • Digital content management:
    • Websites: Update WordPress-based website content in collaboration with program teams and Communication strategy. Websites include: imt.org, buildinginnovationhub.org, and greenleaseleaders.com.
    • Social media (i.e Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube): Develop and maintain content for social channels, monitoring engagement and success of campaigns, and developing efficient and effective workflows for content creation, review, and approval processes.
    • Email marketing: Manage process for creating IMTs flagship monthly newsletter (content and distribution), the Building Innovation Hub monthly newsletter (editing and distribution), plus any special announcements or communications (ex: webinars), and overall audience recruitment planning (e.g. audience segmentation, digital sign-ups, and welcome series). We use MailChimp to manage our eblasts, and YAMM for a mail merge functionality within Gmail.
  • Graphic design: Produce slides and graphics that adhere to IMT and sub brand guidelines, meets industry usability and accessibility standards, and resonates with the target audience.
  • Staff training: Assist IMT staff in locating and using branded templates for internal and external communications materials, potentially including creating short instructional videos.
  • Other priority projects as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Interest in clean energy or sustainability
  • At least 1 year of experience in digital communications, social media management, content creation, or a similar role
  • Simple graphic design skills using Canva, InDesign, and, ideally, basic video editing
  • Enthusiasm, dedication, and a drive to succeed
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and communications skills
  • Ability to perform self-directed work and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines
