Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and driven Hydrogen Outside Sales Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas; California; and the East Coast. The ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial spirit, a knack for building customer relationships, and a passion for providing top-notch solutions in the transformer industry.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the hydrogen sector, targeting companies with a need for advanced transformer solutions.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet revenue targets from $0 to $100 million, reflecting an entrepreneurial spirit and an understanding of market dynamics.
  • 40-50% Travel.

Customer Engagement:

  • Build strong rapport with customers by being personable and delivering clear, concise, and relevant messages tailored to their needs.
  • Act independently in decision-making processes, demonstrating the ability to take calculated risks and initiative without waiting for directives.

Consultative Selling:

  • Engage in meaningful conversations with customers to understand their needs, asking insightful questions and actively listening to uncover underlying challenges and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with customers to develop tailored solutions that address their specific requirements, ensuring satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.

Technical Expertise:

  • Utilize your knowledge of transformers and the hydrogen industry to educate customers on the benefits and features of Virginia Transformer’s products.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers throughout the sales process, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the product capabilities and applications.

Market Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscapes within the hydrogen and transformer sectors.
  • Provide feedback to the product development team to enhance product offerings and meet emerging customer demands.

Sales Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, customer interactions, and market insights in the CRM system.
  • Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for management review.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the transformer industry, with a focus on sales or business development.
  • Experience in the hydrogen sector is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a knack for building and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to deliver clear and compelling messages.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
