Job Description

Position Summary:

The O&M Field Technician performs field level activities required to operate and maintain a solar site. This position includes repairs on inverters, trackers, communications equipment, and general site upkeep. Field technicians are required to have a working knowledge on operating solar equipment and performing preventative maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain and repair inverters, trackers, and other systems essential to health site operation.

Perform retinue testing and repair of DC electrical circuits for maximum site production.

Troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment specifically inverters, module trackers, and communications.

Ensure site safety and security on all jobs being performed on site by personnel and contractors.

Perform electrically safe testing procedures on all components on site before maintenance begins.

Log and record all maintenance activities performed into a computerized maintenance management system.

Troubleshoot faulty equipment utilizing manufacturers support, manuals, and equipment specific training.

Accurately report and relay information to site lead and other supervision in a clear and concise manner.

Adhere to all site safety requirements including LOTO, PPE, and safe working practices.

Perform site security and visual inspections of vegetation, facilities, water ways and roads.

Monitor repairs performed by contractors and provide detailed breakdowns of work performed.

Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and control devices installed in power facilities.

Perform all solar site activities not listed above.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Required:

o Able to operate a computer and proficient in Microsoft Office software experience (i.e. Outlook, Excel)

o Advanced level of electronic principles knowledge to perform detailed troubleshooting.

o Electrical testing equipment knowledge (multimeter, IV Curve Tracer, TTR, insulation resistance etc.)

o Proficient in repairing and maintaining tracker systems, inverters, and weather stations.

o 2+ years solar experience (O&M and commissioning experienced preferred.)

o Valid drivers license and good driving record to operate company vehicles.

o A high school diploma or GED is required.

Preferred:

o Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) programs

o Proficient in SCADA system monitoring and applications used to operate power generation facilities

o Strong electrical background with electronics principles education.

OSHA, NFPA 70e, LOTO, and First Aid training.

Required:

o Ability to mostly work in an outside environment

o Lifting items greater than 35 pounds

o Walking on uneven ground and navigating rough terrain.

o Ability to handle temperature extremes.

o Able to wear and safely utilize all PPE required to perform tasks.
