Our team is growing quickly, and we seek a talented and motivated individual to join our Offtake team.
The Offtake Associate will be responsible for managing the acquisition and management of subscribers for UGE’s community solar projects, both directly and through other parties. The person in this role will also evaluate commercial, utility, and community solar and energy storage markets and opportunities, will create and run financial models to determine project financial viability, and will run scenario analyses to determine financial and market risks and opportunities.
Reporting Relationships
The Offtake Associate will report to the Senior Manager, Offtake
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Community Solar Offtake: Conduct RFPs, negotiate and contract with external parties to acquire and manage subscribers for UGE’s community solar projects
- Relationship Management: Manage relationships with subscriber organizations and other partners to ensure achievement of project milestones and other goals
- Offtake Data Tracking and Analysis: Develop and monitor key metrics related to community solar subscribers, including payments, subscriber acquisition and churn
- Market Intelligence: Monitor developments in UGE’s target community solar markets to ensure that UGE’s objectives and project milestones are met
- Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs): Manage the sale of RECs from UGE’s projects
- Market Modeling: Coordinate with external providers to collate and maintain market forecasts, including wholesale power prices, capacity prices, REC prices, and basis forecasts.
- Lead UGE’s response to RFPs for energy and other revenue streams from UGE’s projects
Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to successfully manage and negotiate with external parties, building mutually beneficial relationships while also pursuing the company’s goals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Passionate about the environment; experience in the renewable energy industry
- Well-developed organizational and self-management skills
- Attention to detail, problem solving, follow-through, and deadline orientation
- Experience in Data Analysis, with exceptional skills in one or more of the following: Excel VBA, R, Python
- Knowledge of wholesale electricity markets, including one or more of NYISO, ISO-NE, ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, and MISO
- Familiarity with production-cost modeling, and experience working with 3rd party energy market forecasts
- Familiarity with asset valuation, including generating proformas, calculating NPVs and IRRs
- Knowledge of renewable energy tax credits (PTC, ITC), and tax equity financing
