Position: National Field Coordinator
Location: Chicago, IL (50-60% travel required)
One of the largest German industry association seeks to hire a National Field Coordinator on a full-time basis. This role is dedicated to the interests of a major industrial association representing over 3,600 companies across various machinery and plant engineering sectors, supplying capital goods to critical sectors such as semiconductor, clean energy, transportation, and more. Approximately 1,000 of these companies have operations within the United States, including sales, service, and manufacturing sites.
Job Overview
The National Field Coordinator will be co-located in the offices of a prominent international chamber of commerce in downtown Chicago, IL. This position requires the successful candidate to work independently in the Chicago office while closely collaborating with colleagues in Germany and Washington, D.C. The primary responsibility is to strategically manage a network of approximately 1,000 companies across the United States, connecting member companies to enhance business opportunities, improve practices, and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences. The National Field Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the association in Germany and the American network of companies, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Travel weekly to meet with business leaders of the member companies.
- Organize events for member companies in various cities around the United States, including roundtable discussions, luncheons, dinners, and networking receptions.
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date database of member companies with investments in the United States, including designated contact persons within those US subsidiaries.
- Collect and synthesize information from member companies on common topics of interest.
- Distribute communications to member companies.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant work experience, e.g., in a membership association or similar organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable fields, e.g., International Relations, Marketing, Communications, Business.
- Willingness to travel weekly within the United States and twice annually to Germany.
- Ability to apply a “start-up” mentality to proactively help shape and lead an initiative.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
- Passion for business networking and relationship building across the United States.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrable interest in the American manufacturing sector.
- Willingness to perform occasional tasks during early-morning hours.
