Job Description Summary
SCA’s Sustainable Design and Resiliency team is looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer that has experience in sustainable design and energy efficiency. The Sustainable Design and Resiliency team is responsible for updating and implementing the NYC Green Schools Guide Rating System, research and development of standards due to enactment of sustainable laws and incorporation of technology and revisions to the SCA standards as they relate to sustainability and resiliency requirements at the local, state, and federal level that go beyond building energy codes.
The Engineer – Level C reports to a Managing Engineer or Architect, or higher assignment level Engineer or Architect and is responsible for performing work in a variety of assignments and technical roles, as needed, to achieve the objectives of the Authority.

Salary
Subject to the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the appointment rate for any newly hired employee, or employees with less than two years of active City or SCA service, shall be 15% less than the applicable incumbent rate or step.

Professional Engineer – NYS Department of Education
Work Experience
Six years of full-time paid post-licensure experience as a Professional Engineer; three years must be as a project engineer; project, team, or squad leader; or a comparable level of responsibility. Selective Certification for Special Experience. Electrical: six years of full time paid post-licensure experience in electrical work as a Professional Engineer; three years must be as a project engineer; project team, or squad leader; or a comparable level of responsibility; a minimum of ten years total experience specializing in electrical work. This can be any combination of pre-licensure and post-licensure work as long as the post licensure experience requirement is met. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning: six years of full time paid post-licensure experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work as a Professional Engineer; three years must be as a project engineer; project team, or squad leader; or a comparable level of responsibility; a minimum of ten years total experience specializing in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work. This can be any combination of pre-licensure and post licensure work as long as the post-licensure experience requirement is met. Plumbing and Drainage: six years of full time paid post-licensure experience in plumbing and drainage work as a Professional Engineer; three years must be as a project engineer; project team, or squad leader; or a comparable level of responsibility; a minimum of ten years total experience specializing in plumbing and drainage work. This can be any combination of pre-licensure and post-licensure work as long as the post-licensure experience requirement is met. Structural: six years of full time paid post-licensure experience in structural work as a Professional Engineer; three years must be as a project engineer; project team, or squad leader; or a comparable level of responsibility. a minimum of ten years total experience specializing in structural work. This can be any combination of pre-licensure and post-licensure work as long as the post-licensure experience requirement is met.
