Summary of Position Functions

The Manager, Solutions Development & Engineering oversees and provides technical guidance to a team of engineering and construction professionals during the development of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and Facility Improvement Measures (FIMs) that, when combined, comprise projects that will be taken to contract in their region.

The Manager, Solutions Development & Engineering acts as the Sales and Development Process Leader to ensure that all initiatives and projects, and their respective deliverables, are assembled in accordance with established policies, standards and objectives.

At the inception of the Sales Process, the Manager, Solutions Development & Engineering utilizes their technical skills to assist the Account Manager with the qualification of projects by identifying potential Energy Conservation Measures and Facility Improvement Measures that will address the needs of the customer. The Manager, Solutions Development & Engineering will allocate internal resources to the project team and identify and engage internal subject matter experts, Veregy Centers of Excellence, or external consultants.

The Manager, Solutions Development & Engineering will participate in risk analysis reviews and contractor interviews with developers and engineers as well as assist with the preparation of the final project workbook and cost estimates.

The Manager, Solutions Development & Engineering will define best practices and develop standards and tools to enhance the productivity of Engineers and Developers.

Essential Position Functions

  • Facilitates and oversees the steps of the development process to ensure conformance with Veregy’s established policies, objectives and standards.
  • Communicates regularly with all team members regarding project progress, open and closed tasks and issues.
  • Works with Account Managers on the qualification of new opportunities.
  • Tracks regional sales prospects and regularly monitors regional project development progress.
  • Attends key customer meetings with the Account Manager during all phases of a project.
  • Allocates regional resources to projects.
  • Analyzes facility utility consumption, reviews capital and operating budgets, sets preliminary performance targets, and performs initial energy savings benchmarking.
  • Conducts facility walk-thru to identify/verify preliminary scope items.
  • Prepares a preliminary cost estimate for the Improvement Measures that address customer needs.
  • Participates in the presentation of the Feasibility Report to the customer.
  • Creates a development timeline, budget, and project development control index.
  • Provides facility existing conditions descriptions, Utility Analysis, Facility Energy Profile, preliminary Facility Improvement and Energy Conservation Measure explanations.
  • Identifies potential Energy Savings, applicable Utility Rebates or Incentives and prepares a preliminary Proforma.
  • Participates in the presentation of the Preliminary Analysis Report to the Customer.
  • Updates the development timeline, budget and project development control index.
  • Develops detailed MEP Scopes of Work, Specifications and Preliminary Implementation Schedule.
  • Facilitates subcontractor pre-bid meeting and facility walk-thru with Regional Operations Manager and Project Developer.
  • Addresses any Requests for Information.
  • Receives subcontractor bids and reviews for completeness.
  • Finalizes costs and access project risk with the Regional Operations Manager and Project Developer.
  • Builds the Final Project Estimate.
  • Assists the Account Manager with the compilation of the final proposal document and Project Business Case.
  • Participates in project interviews.
  • Engages third-party consultants for design assistance or review.
  • Defines final project scope and revises Scope of Work Documents to rebid as necessary.
  • Finalizes the Project Estimate.
  • Validates the Energy Savings Guarantee and M&V Plan.
  • Assists with Final Contract preparation.
  • Participates in final Turnover Meeting with the Development and Operations Teams.
  • Assists the Regional Operations Manager with the review of Submittals and Shop Drawings.
  • Supports the Project Manager as required during Construction.
  • Assist the M&V Specialist with the preparation of the year one Audit.
  • Follows company safety policies.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Professional Engineer Licensure and Certified Energy Manager credentials preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, preferably Microsoft Office with an understanding of Microsoft Project and PowerPoint.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Veregys services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Owners, Architects, Engineers, Project Team, and Subcontractors.
  • Strong relationship and communication skills demonstrated by the ability to work collaboratively with a team of like-minded Professionals, Owner representatives, third-party consultants and/or subcontractors representatives.
  • Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems and software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively before customers and staff.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.

  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Professional Engineer Licensure and Certified Energy Manager credentials preferred.
