POSITION TITLE: Manager or Senior Manager (based on experience), Market Strategy, Strategic Development

POSITION SUMMARY:

Galehead is seeking a Manager or Senior Manager (based on experience) of Market Strategy, Strategic Development to focus on developing analytically rigorous value propositions for Galehead’s existing and future pipeline of generation, battery storage, and load projects. In this role, you will drive and coordinate market strategy across Galehead. You will inform Galehead on which markets it should invest in, to what extent, and why, including playing a leading role in designing new greenfield campaigns. Additionally, you will collaborate with Galehead’s in-house software engineering team to support the development of new tools and analytics to enhance the firm’s competitive advantages across markets and technologies. The successful candidate will have experience in and substantive familiarity with the US energy industry. Core competency in energy infrastructure development, nodal and regulated markets, and quantifying market risks will be critical to the role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and diligence market strategies to inform new greenfield campaigns and to evaluate existing project pipeline, across generation, transmission and load.
  • Identify, evaluate, and analyze potential changes in the market which may create or detract from existing or future pipeline.
  • Develop, implement and manage regional demand forecasts for renewable resources.
  • Manage Galehead’s ISO/RTO and non-ISO area regulatory coverage and outlook.
  • Lead the effort to quantify the impact of fundamental energy, capacity and REC forecast changes on the Galehead pipeline and explain the drivers underlying the changes.
  • Support analysis of pricing data and market trends to inform pricing decisions and revenue maximization.
  • Perform ad hoc nodal, market, and regulatory construct analysis.
  • Provide insight into policy positions which Galehead and its investors should advocate for in various markets
  • Perform other analytical work as required

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2-5+ years of relevant work experience, including commercial strategy, power trading, power and renewables project finance, or energy markets forecasting / participation.
  • Familiarity with both wholesale and vertically integrated utility markets, including capacity markets and resource adequacy.
  • Experience in analyzing large datasets, including statistical analysis
  • Experience in the creation and modification of excel-based financial models (valuation, discounted cash flow, etc.)
  • Expertise in electric resource planning processes, utility tariffs, rate structures, and regulatory contexts in which utilities operate

BENEFICIAL QUALIFICATIONS (but not critical for a successful candidate to possess):

  • Greenfield experience, including both transmission and generation development
  • QGIS and/or ArcGIS (with capability to learn QGIS)
  • Python and/or R
