Position

The Manager, Energy Equity & Inclusions primary role is to demonstrate leadership and project management in the development of impactful content, research, analysis, and convenings that support SEPAs mission. This position will serve as a subject matter expert on the applications of energy equity and inclusion (EE&I) in SEPAs work, advising projects across SEPAs focus areas.

The Manager, Energy Equity & Inclusion will play a key role in leading the teams work to build greater knowledge of and engagement with community-based organizations and other key stakeholders. The Manager, Energy Equity & Inclusion is a key contributor to business development and may require supervision and/or mentoring of junior staff members.

The salary range for this position is $85,000-$100,000 with the target range being around $92,000 based on experience.

Requirements:

Responsibilities and Key Impact Areas

Project Management Leadership

  • Lead research and client projects as assigned with support from junior staff and input from internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Provide Energy Equity & Inclusion insights and project support to other focus areas as assigned.
  • Create project charter, RACI chart, and Gantt Chart for assigned projects.
  • Effectively manages budgets of projects assigned.
  • Keep assigned research projects on schedule and manage development process flow including internal and external review cycles, layout, design, and product release.
  • Work with SEPAs marketing and communications team to define marketing strategy for assigned projects.
  • Organize and execute industry workshops and focus groups in support of funded research projects.
  • Ensure accuracy and high quality of data and writing represented in each research output.

Business Development

  • Support the energy equity and inclusion teams business development capture process.
  • Support and contribute to the development of proposals, scope(s) of work, and other business development documents as assigned.
  • Support funding opportunities and proposal development.

Strategic Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify, foster, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support and accelerate EE&I efforts.
  • Support the design and implementation of outreach and community engagement strategies and processes.
  • Manage a Salesforce CRM to report communications, engagement, and relationship mapping with national and regional partners.
  • Provide input and support on assigned content, including support for presentations, conference sessions for SEPA events, presenting at external conferences, responding to media inquiries, and supporting advisory work.
  • Support working groups, setting the monthly meeting agendas in consultation with the working group co-lead and co-chair(s), recruiting working group members, overseeing the development of minutes, and developing the annual working group plan.

Membership Support

  • Provide research request responses for internal staff, SEPA members, and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the cultivation and execution of engagement-focused and member-funded research projects and activities.
  • Provide member support in the form of responding to requests for in-person presentations, workshops, facilitation services, and member-sponsored research.

Research and Analysis

  • Define research methodology for assigned projects including crafting hypotheses, data collection approach, data evaluation methods, and desired learning outcomes.
  • Conduct outreach with research targets for primary data collection via web-based survey instruments, face-to-face or phone-based interviews, or other formats as required.
  • Author, co-lead, and/or support various research outputs based on key findings from primary research.
  • Direct junior staff in defining and executing on project approach for key areas of responsibility.
  • Provide content peer review support and final QA/QC in support of junior research staff.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years experience in program management or program evaluation.
  • Experience conducting empirical social research.
  • Preferred experience speaking and presenting at conferences and workshops.
  • Knowledge or interest in electric utility, energy, and renewable energy.
  • Knowledge of energy equity policies, initiatives, and strategies.
  • Experience or familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM for managing communications, engagements, and relationships.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to cultural differences, with the ability to collaborate effectively in diverse environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and meeting milestones.
