Summary Objective

The Manufacturing Logistics Team is responsible for ensuring the efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials and products within the manufacturing environment. This role involves coordinating with various departments to manage inventory, oversee supply chain processes, and support production needs to meet operational goals. The Superintendent will have experience in logistics schedule coordination, direction, and monitoring of multiple Structural Fitter and Welder Combo crews, ensuring the timely, safe, and cost-effective completion of manufactured chiller unit shipments.

Essential Functions

  • Scheduling
  • Create, maintain, and update individual Project Schedules based on major equipment delivery schedules, personnel, and equipment needs to meet Master Schedule Ship dates. Submit to the Plant Manager and/or Production Manager for approval and notify them of any potential delays immediately.
  • Confirm team loading and monitor individual project team lists and crew sizing based on input from Foremen, Leadmen, and QA/QC.
  • Monitor and confirm equipment deliveries based on the Project Plan. Notify the Plant Manager and/or Production Manager of any delays immediately.
  • Schedule and monitor all shop floor activities in coordination with the Plant Manager, Production Manager, other superintendents, QA/QC, and shipping and receiving personnel.
  • Identify and implement improved methods of production. (Continuous Improvement)
  • Shipment Preparation and Coordination
  • Prepare finished products for shipment, ensuring all materials and components are ready for dispatch.
  • Coordinate the use of gantry systems and large cranes to move materials and modules efficiently and safely.
  • Oversee the daily maintenance of gantry systems and cranes to ensure operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with the team to ensure that finished products are shipped on time.
  • Liaise with shipping companies to manage delivery and shipment schedules.
  • Coordinate material transfers between SEA facilities to maintain workflow continuity.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and superintendents to ensure the timely movement of materials and modules.
  • Assist in organizing the factory floor, ensuring efficient layout and material flow in collaboration with the Production Manager and other superintendents.
  • Project Management
  • Monitor and update the overall Project Plan, ensuring the quality, efficiency, and timely completion of tasks, including milestone dates, task hours, and shift turnovers.
  • Ensure SOP/Work Instruction adherence and continuously seek to implement additional procedures and training.
  • Coordinate the location of module builds in the shop with the Plant Manager and/or Production Manager.
  • Confirm all quality checks and milestone dates with QA/QC and receiving.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles to identify safer and more efficient production methods.
  • Manage crew material issuance and consumable usage.
  • Ensure timely information acquisition from floor personnel for Design or Procurement RFIs.
  • Confirm the finalization and timely submission of all crew-associated Quality Documents.
  • Safety and Tool Management
  • Implement and monitor overall shop safety protocols.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings, including MSDS reviews.
  • Continuously monitor processes for improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain Competent Persons training.
  • Oversee the safe storage and sign-out of all shop tools and equipment.
  • Ensure shop cleanliness through the Foreman Checklist.
  • Notify the Production Manager of necessary tool certifications, calibrations, etc.
  • 5S and Continuous Improvement
  • Lead 5S activities to maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
  • Prepare for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position operates out of a fabrication facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to talk or listen and frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is primarily not required, except for local travel during the business day.

Required Education And Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing and logistics environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in heavy equipment operation including but not limited to: Gantry crane, Overhead crane, Long-boom crane, Heavy lifting crane, Forklift, Truck operation.

Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in the USA.
