Job Description

Job Title: Lead Electrical Engineer

Compensation: $200k plus DOE

Location: Remote with travel (25%)

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (Hybrid)

We are seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to manage the design, construction, and implementation of residential and commercial PV systems, electric car charging stations, and battery backups. Your role involves site assessments, electrical consulting, diagram creation, NEC Code compliance, material procurement, and quality control. You’ll collaborate with Project Managers, guide drafting teams, conduct voltage drop and wire fill calculations, and ensure the success and safety of electrical projects. Strong technical skills, project management expertise, and a passion for renewable energy are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Design and Planning:

  • Lead the design of commercial and residential PV systems, electric car charging stations, and battery backup systems.
  • Conduct site assessments to determine project requirements and feasibility.
  • Develop detailed engineering plans, electrical schematics, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate projects with existing electrical infrastructure.

Project Implementation:

  • Oversee construction and installation of electrical systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards, NEC and CEC Code requirements, and safety practices.
  • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during construction.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate project documentation throughout its lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and permitting requirements.
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for each project.

Quality Control and Corrections:

  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks during construction.
  • Address deviations or errors promptly and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain project integrity through rigorous quality control measures.

Innovation and In-House Engineering:

  • Research industry trends and emerging technologies in renewable energy systems.
  • Propose innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and performance of PV systems and charging stations.
  • Develop in-house electrical engineering capabilities to support company growth and technical expertise.

Project Management:

  • Create project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams, to ensure effective project delivery.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing commercial PV systems, electric car charging stations, solar, and battery systems.
  • Understanding of electrical engineering principles, renewable energy technologies, and pertinent codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other essential engineering tools.
  • Proven project management skills with a consistent record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively lead diverse teams.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify and resolve technical challenges.
  • Passion for sustainability and a dedication to advancing positive environmental impact through renewable energy solutions.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and insurability are required.
