Functional area: Operations & Maintenance
Remuneration: Non-Exempt

The Large Correctives Technician Associate reports to, assists, and supports the Supervisor of Large Correctives in managing and coordinating the operations of the large correctives activities performed for RWECE Operations to ensure safe and efficient operations, minimize cost, and optimize performance in accordance with the Operations Mission Statement.

Responsibilities:

  • Assure that all operation and maintenance activities are performed in a safe manner consistent with policies and procedures established for the wind farm site
  • Performing major up-tower component replacements for multiple turbine manufacturers, including GE, Siemens, Vestas, Gamesa, and/or Mitsubishi. Replacements include:
  • Assist in transportation, setup, and operation of up-tower gearbox replacement tools
  • Assure proper storage, maintenance, and handling of all Large Corrective tools and equipment
  • Travel up to 5 weeks at a time with at least one week back home rotation
  • Self-motivator: Ability to work successfully, safely, and independently at remote wind farm locations
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • A minimum of 2 years of overall experience with at least 1 year in operations and/or maintenance of power generation and related facilities
  • An associate degree in science or a related field from an accredited school is preferred
  • Must pass a fit-for-duty medical examination upon hiring and every 2 years thereafter and maintain a body weight of 270 lbs or less
  • Willing to relocate to within 1-hour drive of the site
  • All applicants must possess an unrestricted drivers license in good standing
  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain an RWE-sponsored Commercial Driver License (CDL), if so requested by RWE, for mobilization of our main component equipment
  • Flexibility and full range of movement in confined spaces
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work safely in extreme environments (hot sun, cold, etc.)
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday
  • Self-motivating and able to make cost-efficient decisions and take necessary actions without specific directions
  • High standards of integrity, honor, ethics, safety, productivity, and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned

Work Environment:

It is primarily a field environment and may include hazardous conditions such as working at heights up to 300, working in confined spaces, exposure to bloodborne pathogens, exposure to energized electrical and rotating equipment and working in extreme hot and cold conditions. The employee must pass a fit-for-duty medical examination upon hiring and every two years thereafter and maintain a body weight of 270 lbs or less. The work also requires flexibility and a full range of movement in confined spaces.

Willing to relocate to within 1-hour drive of the site.
